His family had a pub in nenagh called bolands, Ciaran o Meara, the owner of Rody Bolands in Rathmines, bought the front and the entire fixture and gittings of the pub in nenagh and moved them to the pub in Rathmines. He then called it Rody Bolands.

No, his family was monied back in the day, a shop near the Quill on Mitchell St, but not a pub AFAIK
Wasn’t aware it was an actual pub.
Im not 100% certain but i did hear of it being a licensed premises. I can never remember it being open ever and i can remember drinking in the railway bar and the widows and theyre both gone near on 30 years

Would’ve been closed decades before those 2 anyway. My late Dad served his time in The Railway Bar under Martin Gleeson. I can remember a Mackeys Pub where the Bank of Ireland is now, the Silver Street side

No, Mackeys is actually beside what is now called Foxys Den, i think it waa or is a Vodafone shop, if you look halfway up the building it still has bar and grocery plastered on the front
The Foxys Den was Paddy Mackeys, many’s the time I drank there. A Liam (I think) Mackey had a small pub at the bottom of Silver Street where the Bank of Ireland starts. Paddy Mackeys became Joe Corcorans, then the Kiwi bar, then the Half Barrell and is the Foxys Den today

I recall I had leaving drinks in Mulligans from my first accounting job.
I got a round for everyone with the money which had been collected for me.

Always found NH excellent in Mulligan’s. Sharp, in all senses.
The night of the Dulblin riots on November 23, 2023, NH served myself and a friend about half a dozen pints and three whiskies between four-ish and half seven-ish. My friend was staying in Glasnevin and I went out with him onto the quays, where I was to get the 8pm coach to Kilkenny.
With that innate good barman’s ability to pick up things, NH had long since sussed out that I often used kill time in there before travel. As we were heading off, NH said to me: “I don’t think you’ll be getting any bus home tonight, from what we’re hearing. Come back if you need to.” Had not a clue what he meant.
Then we were out on Burgh Quay and a bus was burning across the river.

@Ralphie is that the pub across from Richmond that Aidan Brown bought? McDowell’s? Had it been closed down in the off season? Was in it before the Galway cup quarter final, nice football pub.
