Dublin V Cork All Ireland Hurling SmeiFinal

cant believe there is no thread on this, is it a foreground conclusion that Dublin will win?

If not a foreground one it might be foregone.

I fancy Dublin for this if they can hit the same levels again. This semi is definitely the stronger side of the draw.

I’ll be heading along to this on Sunday - looking forward to it now. Build-up seems a bit quiet leading into it - maybe the football furore has overshadowed it and there’s no traditional rivalry to work off.

Very hard to get a read on who’s favourite. Both teams have beaten KK. You’d have to think that the layoff won’t have helped a team like Dublin - the momentum from earlier in the summer has drifted away.

Are Dublin in the long grass?

There’s already a thread for this.

Cork have been very low key all year. Hardly an utterance from the camp before any of the games to date.

JBM.

Cork have the momentum and will win.

Dublin don’t fear Cork.

There was a lot of hype 5 weeks ago when Dublin won Leinster, but that has wilted a bit. The gap is a disadvantage, especially when you consider they built up such a head of steam on the back of so many games in a row. You also have to wonder what you can really read into any team bating Galway this year…

I’d just about give Dublin the nod. I don’t think Cork are all that great despite steamrolling Clare and beating Kilkenny.

There is no way in my lifetime that a Cork Senior Hurling Team will lose to Dublin in a championship match.
Mods - Lock this thread.

I just find it so hard to get my head around Cork being in the All-Ireland hurling final. If achieved it will be JBM’s greatest achievement bar none, playing, coaching, managing, the lot.

99 was set up with a savage bunch of young players on top of Ryan, Corcoran, Browne, Murray, McGrath etc.

These are a good bunch of hurlers, but in all fairness they are below that level.

Right now I’m thinking the build up suits Cork and I’m leaning that way, but it’s very close.

Cork will walk this.

Cork will win because they’re Cork and are like the mushrooms.

Game has changed a lot since even 1999. I always thought you could not win all Ireland without at least 2/3 marquee type players. I’ve changed my mind. Today you need 20/21 fast, skilful and hungry players. The game today is suited to lads under the age of 25 (lads in college if you like) who can are devoid of distractions like family, work etc.

Cork and Clare have the right type of profile.

True. Still, I didn’t see them playing the way they are.

I was watching the football on the BBC over the weekend. Jarath Burns stated that to win in championship you needed ‘economy, intensity and quality’. He was bang on. I often would refer to economy as simply good decision making.

Anyways, I think that this Cork senior hurling team, with the exception of one individual, have those traits in abundance.

Who? Dublin’s decision making on the ball has been excellent. Limerick’s has been much improved, players pretty much always look up before striking now. Clare’s game is based on this, but completely broke down v Cork.
