No, it was a different guy with the same surname. Ex Dublin underage player who succumbed to cancer in his early-mid thirties lately.
the 6th guy was Bibi Baskins 2nd cousin, he wasnt too big into the GGA but a poignant tribute nonetheless
Really? Forgive me, I got that all wrong so, Phil McConnell not Paddy McConnell.
Forward lines are incomparable I reckon. Mayos arent good enough without o connor to expose dubs man on man tactics. 4/5 dubs to lift Sam is a great price.
the 12th guy was Cab Sav. Im sure it was emotional for DB to see his beloved Cab Sav get a mention on Cab Savs 13th Month and 2 week anniversary
Bar Duirmuid Connolly showing serious balls and my lack of faith in the chap , this is another vindication of my calling of this game and where these teams stand.
Not really pal. You completely dismissed Kerry who it in a class performance that you really didn’t predict. The score line more than flattered Dublin I think you’ll agree. My call that Kerry’s true form was closer to their first half performance v cork was closer to the mark.
Oh and you were a mile off on Connolly. And a mile off on Colm Cooper at 11, who destroyed Brennan.

@balbec, look it - people like @Fitzy (boasting about firing people) and me are very, very important. I’ll be a valued guest in one of the boxes tomorrow.
A valued guest? Don’t you have your own corporate box?
If O’Connor is out it’s hard to see Mayo matching Dublins scoring power. Dublin have about 10 forwards that would walk onto most county teams.

I know you only see things in black and white, but here is what I have said about this game and the individuals all along.
Gooch is not as good as being made out in that deep dropping centre forward role where he was getting cheap ball - he played much higher in this game and was in the corner receiving passes on a few occasions. Basically he played a much different and more effective (for playing the Dubs) No.11 role.
Ger Brennan and the Dublin defense has serious limitations. I actually thought Brennan was done a slight misjustice in he was clearly told to drop back when Goich got the ball out beyond 45 and others were to support. But Gooch was delivering the ball extremely quick. So Brennan looked all over the place. He had started well enough.
I never doubted Kerry’s forwards and that kind of play is always in them. But their backs are poor at this level and were exposed. The dubs missed a host of chances and should have been ahead at half time.
I also said Kerry don’t have the legs.
I also said Bernard Brogan was about to catch fire and would destroy lesser players than Michael Shields. He did. *
All of these things happened.
I also said Dublin by 7-8. Can’t get much closer. And considering Kerry got a penalty that was a free out and a couple of late bizarre frees from the ref I think the score is about right.
People will say J Cooper should have got the line, but Crowley should have gone first. The ref was consistent there.
*I really hope people stop pedaling Marc O Se for an All Star. He has been roasted in 2 games this year and was a free man for much of another.
Dublin haven’t the most skilful players and some of their forwards arent near accurate enough at times but they have the best athletes and the best system. No other team is powerful enough to run full tilt at the defense, kerry pretty much decided to pull them down today, the usual outcome is that they’re either tripped or fall over (sometimes intentionally easily)
Mayo are the only team able to possibly manage this as they have the quickest backs to track runners and their full back line is fairly solid under the high ball but it wont work all the time. Where mayo are fucked is that they have no forwards capable of powering straight through the middle and turning backs around that dublin do. And they have no one like cooper who would be patient and skillful enough to wait and pick them apart. Itll be mayo potshots from 40 odd yards as dublin had no problem setting up a blanket defence today once tgey get ahead, whick i think they will early. Mayo wont have met anything like dublins aggressive tackling, even if they got a small taste from tyrone, its borderline fouling but theyre getting away with it, mayos only hope is to draw a few defenders attempting to surround them and slip a pass as kerry did today well, but mayo dont have the class to do that.

You said Gooch couldn’t play 11 in the modern game. You were wrong on Connolly. Kerry were a point down on 69 mins and on 68 hit a wide that would have had them ahead. You predicted a 7-8 point win for dublin as in a comfortable win. It wasn’t, the margin was hugely flattering. You lucked out on the 7 point call.
I’m not saying you got it all wrong, but you pretty much wrote off Kerry and gave no hint you thought they had that kind of performance in them, so as for a vindication of your calling on where these teams stand, I’m calling bollox on that one.

No…just no.
Care to elaborate?
Cmaaaan
You are giving Mayo little to no chance in the final from what I can see and that is crazy man, this is the final on form all year we were getting and if Mayo get it right mentally it is them who will take serious stopping.
It would be more than foolish to think that dublin can overrun mayo. While mayo do not have a colm cooper they do have alan dillon who is a very decent playmaker who won’t fold his hand after 40 minutes.
Dublins midfield it’s very good at running down the middle but fairly shit at winning high ball and passing more than five yards. They will have serious problems with mayo in that regard and in freeman and horan great target men who wil finish

Dillon was completely anonymous against tyrone, freeman showed well but has never before, moran is shot. Seeing as dublin dont aim to win any ball but break it for flynn and mccaffrey i think theyll be fine. Thats my oponion but if it makes you feel better to just label that beyond foolish work away youve revealed yourself as a retard here on more than one occasion.
