Wahey. And isn’t it true.
Was it not mentioned somewhere that Freeman was sick all week? Thought that might have been the reason he was hauled off early.
The Mayo forwards just lacked balls. At different times yesterday, Brogan was demanding the ball off the likes of McCauley, Andrews and O’Sullivan. At the other end the Mayo forwards looked like they didn’t want the ball at all at times and shirked responsibility to someone else.

They seemed very timid in the second half alright. Very little in the way of aggressive off the ball runs from behind the man in possession and lads looking to take on the ball. It was strange to watch.
It was almost like they didn’t know how they were supposed to take on the Dublin defence. They looked like they were trying to hold the ball and thread a pass through to the full-forward line, but they weren’t really supporting each other well enough to do that. They just didn’t seem to have any energy about them when they had the ball in attacking positions in the second half.
Mayo spent the last 4 or 5 mins of normal time trying to get a goal and then the 4 mins of extra time going for points.
Re taking off Andy Moran: From being at the game, I thought he looked spent. That said, maybe it was simply the superb Cian O’Sullivan winning every ball that went in between them when he went back on him. And that after doing a job on Aidan O’Shea before that.
Gavin’s faith in his players was mentioned already. I was really surprised that he moved O’Sullivan out of midfield in the indirect switch when Cooper was forced off. But, almost immediately, Bastick was setting up the second goal and O’Sullivan was class at the back too.
I don’t like James Horan.

+1
never trust anyone that wears a baseball cap
they are for the watching
Not true? Different clubs?
You should throw that docket up. Would be a shame for people to think you are full of shit.
You actually called it wrong.
You said
- Mayo would win by 7-8 points
- Mayo would play defensively. They didn’t, they played at best 6 backs, most of the time it was 5 though.
That’s just 2 main points, no doubt there are others I can’t be bothered searching. And to think all you were worried about was coming in here to have a crack off me after your team wins an All Ireland says it all. You are a sad bastard.
Well done though, Dublin’s win was well deserved an should be celebrated accordingly by all.
I just laugh at you at this stage kev… you are not to be taken seriously…telling everyone all year why Dublin would lose their next match…you’re a clown:D
a man a science like yourself not being able to figure out why cian o Sullivan is in midfield…well you got your answer yesterday when he took the traditional high fielding midfielders on a tour of croke park…
PS I lied about the bet…it was actually €13,672…

Re-writing history now?
High fielding was not the main danger of the Mayo midfield, but anyway.
Cian O Sullivan was at his best in defense in last 2 games. I’m not really sure why you keep saying he was great all year when virtually all decent commentators believe otherwise.
Where is that betting docket?
Horan coached Ballintubber. I assumed he was from there. Apologies.
Bet slip?

Was Bastick the fifth change? (Think O’Gara, Daly, McManamon and Rock were already on). In that context I think the type of switch was dictated by the fact it was the last sub. If Cooper had been injured in the first half, I imagine O’Brien would have replaced him, like he did with McMahon as a blood sub. By the time Cooper got injured Gavin realised he only had one change left and went for Bastick, because he’d been important in wining games in earlier rounds and allowed him a bit of flexibility with moving players around., became the preferred choice. It was still a brave move and was a bit of clear thinking but I think the order of changes dictated the final one.
What was the ticket situation like before the game - heard a few lads trying to sell tickets for 200 euro and blokes with signs looking for tickets.
I gave my tickets to a friend of mine from Mayo and his old lad. Very fucking annoyingly they told me the seat next o them was empty. Was talking to someone else who was in premium and said two empty either side of em. You get that in premium though
Yeah last change. Was brave call in the circumstances.
what’s the fascination with scumpot’s betting docket?
are ye going to feel better after seeing it or something?
all in all a poor championship with a poor final that befitted the turgid state of the game, back to the premiership i suppose now…

there was a heap of lads looking for tickets around. loads with signs, shouting whatever. saw no one selling. one lad was willing to pay €200 for a ticket. the official attendance was 82,274, so officially only 26 empty seats throughout.
There was an empty seat in front of me
