It is. Just not the way he has gone about it. I was made redundant before, I’d say the company would have loved to do what Musk did but they didn’t and ended up in a tortrous enough (for them) engagement program over 18 months which was designed to protect employees rights. I’d have thought that was fundamental to your politics tbh… You’d have been on Maggie side in the miners strikes by the looks of it

My own family was a victim of the last one before the inevitable Cork jibe, so I know a bit about that one

Not about labour law, just not celebrating the billionaire in this situation, a bit of empathy would be nice

I’ve plenty empathy. It’s a shit way to lose a job and be informed about it. Musk is an attention seeker and likely did it this way for attention.

But, for me, he has the right to do it.

Well in Ireland there are minimum notice periods and an onus on the employer to show they have gone through a reasonable selection process when deciding who to make redundant and keep. But maybe that happened and they aren’t talking about it

You can be paid in lieu of notice I believe (open to correction on that).

I’ve no idea regarding the reasonable selection. I’d imagine the definition of “reasonable” would be key there
