It may have been mentioned here before but Iād certainly encourage anybody with a smart metre to have a close look at their electricity bill.
My nighttime rate (11pm-7am) is almost half peak rate (5-7pm). Certainly makes sense not to stick on the dishwasher until after 11pm if you can at all. Weāll certainly be doing it in future.
Our summertime nighttime usage looks high. Canāt think of much being on bar the fridge freezer. Sheās an old one but a good one. She must be ating it.
Iāll have to get the wife up early to cook the dinner in future. She didnāt see the joke. Washing machine post 11pm may be achievable though. Weāll seeā¦.
I see where youāre coming from but Iād be loathe to go to bed with appliances churning along. God forbid anything goes awry and you comatosed in the scratcher.
Electric Ireland emailed me today to tell about me about my Christmas present of a 50 euro credit towards next billā¦ Will be glad of the 250 deduction when the Nov/Dec bill floats in.
Got a letter today saying there is an error in my reading. Theyāll come out and fix it with a new smart meter and apply any credit to my account.
There is no way they can tell if there is an error in the reading. Iām on a day/night meter which is far cheaper than the smart meter and i suspect this is just a ploy to try con me into changing to a smart meter thinking itāll be great and Iāll get a credit.
Shower of cunts. They wont be changing that meter.
Do you only have the HP working at night? I know itās popular, but never thought it was ideal. Wouldnāt the house be roasting in the morning and cold in the evening?
No its set on a timer, so it reduces at about 8 or 9pm and kicks back in around 5am. But the main rooms would be at the same moderate temperature so there isnt a noticable drop then. But during the day there wouldnt be as much a demand in it as the house would be at a decent temperature anyway. At the moment our useage would be about 60/40 for day/night useage. Rates are much better than any smart meter. Spoke to a guy in Bord Gais when checking rates and he said dont change at all until they significantly change their rates.
