Energy Crisis

havent had that for years mate

Whats your problem with lads getting stuff for free?

Airtightness is every bit as important. Stopping leaks around windows, doors, etc is massive, but of course mechanical ventilation may be needed to ensure fresh air gets into the house.

That yellow part of the chart looks great. @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy keep it going

They should ban Christmas lights for a starter.

Could be a few less of those ā€œHereā€™s Larry who every year puts 5,000 Christmas lights on his 3 bed semi-d in Crumlin to get a bit of attentionā€ type stories alright

Wind farm in Co. Galway is completely shut down, no power being produced despite the fact that the wind farm can be put fully operational with the press of a button inside 5 minutes and has the capability to produce power for 50k homes.
I dunno

Iā€™d wager thereā€™s a bit of that story missing.
Ireland needs a nuclear power plant.
The end.

The bones of it isā€¦There was a landslide almost 2 decades back due to the development. Caused a lot of damage locally but continued to operate. Was closed recently as a result of investigation into the landslide.
Doesnā€™t make a lot of sense that after all the investment and the collateral damage that the ā€˜rewardā€™ of clean energy right now and in future years wonā€™t be used.

All electricity gone in Claregalway, traffic lights not working either.
Again.

Any reference to the stripping of vegetation on the mountainside and creation of drainage channels? Or how this may have exacerbated flood issues in South Galway?

Yes itā€™s referenced.

the price of wind is governed by the price of gas>? wtf?

Ya, some mess of a setup from the regulator. Also, thereā€™s a guaranteed minimum price set for wind but no maximum price.

The gteed minimum price is 75 euro approx pkwhā€¦ This is to allow the developers to access funding to construct the farms. Its trading almost 5 times that price atm 370 euro pkwh approxā€¦ Seems mental alright that when committing base price we didnā€™t get a max priceā€¦ Iā€™d guess its to do with anti competitiveness laws

Is it set in europe or is it set by the Irish

@Rocko needs to raise this with Eamon

Like all things, itā€™s easily fixed if they really wanted.

Comply or die

No surprise to see @dancarter at the centre of another crisis that will bring the country to its knees.
