There was Duncan castles podcast on the very topic.
There was no links ever and Southgate had ruled him out of any club job by refusing to have any sort of discussions with any club until after the euros.

Our last visit to Dublin for a competitive match in 1990, a European Championships qualifier was marred by IRA/SF louts rioting around Dublin over the extradition of Dessie Ellis, who was given a Garda escort to Kingstown and put on the ferry to the mainland earlier in the day.
