Yeah - he was another option. A very good alternative to Torres.
But the word was that he wanted to play more but the strike force was always, and rightly, Torres and Gerrard.

Delighted for Tottenham there, the better side won, no question. They’ve been excellent all season to be fair.
I dislike Harry Redknapp immensely but I am happy Spurs got fourth.
Shove your 130k a week to Wayne Bridge up your arse, City.
I agree with that. Spurs have earned it more over the last few years than city have.
Spurs were much better tonight as well. Thought city might be getting a grip on the game at the start of the second half but spurs responded well and then went on to take over. They could have won it by two or three in the end. City just don’t have enough quality midfield players.
  Man City = furcoat no knickers.
Fulop kept them in it really.
Chelsea absolutely strolling to the title here will probably make most neutrals happy but its hard to see why given the utter cuntishness of their players.
Drogba has just given one of the biggest exhibitions of cuntiness I’ve seen in many a year from a player. He’s level with Rooney on 26 league goals and is such a self centred bastard that he seems to be putting that above securing the title for his team.
They got a penalty at 1-0 and obviously Lampard who takes all the pens and rarely if ever misses them steps up to take it. He first has to argue with Drogba and then after he scores Drogba doesn’t even celebrate and just stands there whinging at Lampard when he goes over to him.
What. A. Cunt.
Lampard is actually one of the less cuntish Chelsea players which says a lot. I would have preferred to see Manchester United win it even though it would have taken them ahead of Liverpool in titles won.
Yeah that was cuntish in the extreme from Drogba.
Are most people up for Chelsea? I couldn’t give a shit normally but I’ve money on Chelsea -2 so want to see them win for that reason. Not a very likeable bunch of players though. Or a likeable club.
Shit, anti-climactic end to a rubbish quality season. How the top teams have lost 7, 8 or more games to absolute dross like Burnley, Aston Villa and Wigan only serves to emphasise that the standard in England generally has fallen dramatically.
Chelsea deserved the title as they beat United home and away. United could have won it despite this as stupid points were lost to Burnley away and Villa and Sunderland at home. A summer of uncertainty for United awaits.
Why cant I delete posts anymore. Double posted by mistake.
Don’t be such a Dunphy. Surely its better if top teams lose more games as makes a more exciting league? When top teams just lose one or two games everyone is saying its rubbish too.
Standards are definitely down in England but surely that’s a good thing too. The standard of the top European leagues seems to be evening out a bit with Italian and German teams on the up again after a period in the doldrums.
Stanard in EPL has dropped enormously in a short time, Chelsea just about the best team and thus deserved to win the league but were very ordinary for long parts of the season. All the top EPL clubs need to invest big bucks this summer to get back to the standards of previous years. Cant see Utd spending big, Liverpool dont have the funds, Wenger will be reluctant to spend as always. Hard to know if Abramovich will continue to pump money in, though he needs to if he wants Chelsea to win the Champions league. Man city look to be the only club with serious funds but can they attract the quality they need to improve their squad? All in all, cant see standards improving in the next few years.
I was coming from the standard of football perspective in that I think ‘the rest’ are weak but they’ve still taken more points than usual off the ‘big four’. A few shit teams like Hull, Stoke and whoever managed to stay up last season and they were joined by shit promoted teams and then there’s the always shit nothing teams like Blackburn, Bolton and so on. I didn’t find it exciting myself as the football was poor enough and I’m a true connoisseur but I take your point that the greater spread of upset results may have made it more exciting for some people. I thought it was overshadowed by the drop in quality though.
Iain Dowie showering his staff with praise and saying they deserve all the credit. Eh, 1 win in 9 and your team got relegated - you ugly, deluded cunt.
Fulham’s european displays have rubbished such servile, Eamon Dunphy type perspectives
romas reserves destroyed fulham - therefore th EPL is serie a resrerve team standard at best
Fulham have had excellent European results all right but I don’t think they negate 6th place Aston Villa failing to get beyond the Europa League preliminary round, Liverpool being dumped out of two European competitions by mid table clubs from Italy and Spain, the English champions being eliminated by the Serie A runners up elect and what not. More dropped points by the big teams despite there being more shit teams in the league = bigger teams’ standard falling rather than improvement by more modest sides.
