EPL Player's Player of the year Award

Exactly. Aldo filled Rush’s boots just fine when Rush upped and left. It it was anyone else coming back he woulda been told to fight for his place, but this was Rush. He was an Anfield legend, Aldo knew he had to get out. This was before squad rotation, he’d not have gotten a look in.
I can remember Aldridge at the end of his Irish career. I remember him getting a hat trick v Turkey back when they were whipping boys. He scored a cracking goal v Mexico in the WCup in 1994 but still he was only a sub behind the useless Tommy Coyne for that tournament. He also had a very very dry spell when he started off playing for Ireland that I am sure the oldies on here will refer to.

You have a good bit to learn in the wumming category. You also also have a habit of contradicting yourself that takes from your posts e.g. if He is better than any Villa player though, by a good stretch, because if they were better than him Villa would be near the top, as Gerrard has with some serious help from Torres and Alonso, kept Liverpool in the title race.
Villa have no player yet in the same category as these three players. Even if Ashley Young were better than all three he would still need a supporting cast of world class players like Gerrard has - Reina, Alonso and Torres to come close to a title charge. Even if Villa had Messi they would struggle to maintain a title charge considering the likes of Heskey, Knight, Friedel, Luke Young at left back are all front line players.

I’m not getting carried away with Villa, I said at the start of the season I would be happy with an increase in points from last season and fifth place. We look in prime position for that.

An EPL player of the year should be judged over a 38 game season of which Steven Gerrard due to injuries and inconsistent form is def not in the top 5 in the league. Dont get me wrong, when he is given freedom to do so and particularly when a game is open Steven Gerrard can be devastating.
The point is about above. Liverpool have 2 world class players, as opposed to United and Chelsea who are full of them. That is why i believe the influence of Gerrard cannot be understated.

Go back to the Rugby threads where you belong kev

Despite his blunder last night, I’d give Reina a shout as a top notch Pool player. May even be world class. Sets up an unreal amount of Pools attacks with his awareness and quick thinking. A quality spot kick specialist, great shot stopper, and pretty good in the air. Unlucky to be behind Cassillas in Spain.

Not too hot on the aul free kicks though.

Are you referring to Alex’s last night? Unstoppable once the wall didnt do its job. Astonishing power.

Ya, wouldn’t argue with that. Thats 3.
United have Ronaldo, Rooney, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Scholes, Tevez.
Chelsea have Terry, Cole, Essian, Ballack, Lampard, Drogba, Anelka.

My point is, a couple of players carry Liverpool class wise, everyone works hard. Gerrard for me is the foremost of these, with Torres a smig behind.

Its been a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time since Scholes was world class. Tevez I’m still unsure about.

Mascherano isn’t far from top level if you’re going to include Tevez for Utd.

Ballack is a white gone from World Class also. Cole is in his hoop. Anelka is too much of a sulky cunt to ever make the top level.

If Ballack is world class then Xabi Alonso is the best central midfielder in the world.

Spot fucking on.

Despite been maybe not the most likeable guy, Cole is top notch. Tevez for me has got so many important goals and has performed when most needed. I would understand someone being somewhat reserved on him yet though.
Scholes has been superb every game he’s played that i have seen. He probably doesn’t get on the ball as much, but he is a class act in the probably the best and toughest league in the world.
Anelka is top scorer in same league. He’s at the top level, again weather or not people like him, he is.
They are all sulky over paid cunts, so lets not let that get in the way of judging their talents.

What is World Class anyway.

Your very angry MBB. Take another chill pill.
Alonso is very good, but can be inconsistant and very one footed.

Kev, not everything is about you, Alonso is a quality player who had one under par season, I think the guy is outstanding. Dunno how I forgot him myself to be honest.

I dunno, you’re the one who brought it up

With regards to Cole, he is poor defensively and his attacking game has fallen apart since leaving Arsenal. He’s weak in the air, is losing pace, and has a very poor attitude which sees him get on the wrong side of referees.

Once you ignore all that though I suppose he’s not far off “world class”.

Johnny Giles knows what world class is :stuck_out_tongue:

Johnny Giles doesnt even know where his arse is any more

How is he a pro at all.
Just disagree away anyway, it makes you look really smart.

Alonso is a very good player, that twice. I don’t think he’s better than Ballack or Scholes though.

You’re talking world class, Andy fooking Reid is a pro, does that mean he’s one of the best in the world just because its his job to be a professional?

Kev others are allowed have different opinions to you, try not to think we all just exist to contradict you.

Fooking hell.

No just you today MBB, you’ve gone out of your way today to counter any point i made. Its just silly, and you can say what you like, its obvious for all to read.
Hypocrite.

World Class currently:

Chelsea - Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Essien. (Ballack can be occasionally and Carvalho if properly fit would be)

Liverpool - Reina, Alonso, Gerrard, Torres. (Mascherano not far off)

Man Utd - Ferdinand, Vidic, Ronaldo, Rooney.

Paul Scholes was never world class. Carlos Tevez doesnt score nearly enough goals.

Arsenal - Fabregas, Arshavin, Van Persie.
