Has anyone here used premiertickets.ie before? I know the prices are steep but it’s hard to find tickets for this game.

Had never heard of them. The amount of spelling and grammar mistakes on http://www.premiertickets.ie/about-us.html alone would turn me off going near them!

Keep an eye on http://www.toutless.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=13074 as tickets might pop up here. Have managed to get tickets through it to many sold out events before never paying above face value.

Don’t use needaticket.ie anyways.

Gangsters.

The FAI XI were missing three key players that night in Brussels. - Quinn, Irwin and Staunton. Had any of those three been playing I believe the team would have qualified.

People who have first choice for tickets have until the 28th to buy them so after that there should be a fair amount of extra tickets available. I wouldn’t go paying big money for a ticket just yet.

Robin Hood has no need to be shitting himself just yet

didnt think you followed Ireland back then? Was the lack of identity with the “26 county representative side” just a temporary blip, quarter life crisis kind of thing?

No, I lost interest for a period much later than that. Though I find with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs that Celtic and Ireland are effectively one and the same and together cover off a portion of my belonging needs. They complement each other beautifully but there’ll be occasions when interest levels peak and decline for either or both.

Robbie is making ‘good progress’ according to the official LA Galaxy website:

Donovan, Keane both on road to recovery for Galaxy

LA attackers could see the field in Conference Semifinals

CARSON, Calif. – Two of the LA Galaxy’s biggest weapons have been mostly absent for the last three weeks of the regular season. Thanks to a pair of injuries, Landon Donovan has barely played and Robbie Keane has been entirely a spectator.

As the club’s first postseason match nears, Donovan appears to be further ahead in his battle to overcome injury.

The attacker participated in the club’s full training session on Tuesday, playing in short-sided games with his teammates, while Keane went through some drills on the side and watched his teammates play.

The last time both played in a league game was on Oct. 1 in a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake. Keane, though, was hurt while playing for Ireland in a subsequent international fixture while Donovan came away from the RSL match with a quadriceps strain.

Donovan got the last 20 minutes against Motagua in CONCACAF Champions League action last week, but Keane has yet to kick a ball in competition.

“Robbie is making good progress,” Galaxy associate head coach Dave Sarachan said. “We’re monitoring, obviously, but each day has gotten a little bit better progressively. We’re hopeful that we’ll see him sooner or later. I can’t make any predictions at the moment, but we’re kind of pleased with the progress.”

Keane played 90 minutes for Ireland in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Oct. 8 but came away with an adductor injury. Initially ruled out for up to four weeks, he is now nearly three weeks into that timetable.

And that leaves fans wondering: Is there a chance Keane will play a role in the Western Conference Semifinals?

“It’s hard to say,” Sarachan said. “It’s a delicate thing because those injuries, if you rush too much, then you’re really set back. I think we’re doing the right things, taking it step by step and we’re hopeful that we’re going to be able to utilize him. We’re just not sure in what capacity.”

LA’s captain, meanwhile, looked healthy enough to play as he ran through training games with his teammates. Donovan did not play in any of the Galaxy’s final three regular-season games due to the strained quadriceps, but the run-out against Motagua appears to have done him some good.

“He’s been feeling good," Sarachan said. "We’ve been cautious with Landon as well. He was involved in the day-to-day. We keep pushing Landon along. I think he’s also now in a good place physically.”

Sean Franklin, meanwhile, made his own return from injury on Sunday, playing for the first time in more than a month. The right-sider has overcome an inflamed knee and is on target to play a role in the first leg of the Galaxy’s playoff series.

“It was good to get him some minutes the other day in Houston, and he came through that pretty well,” Sarachan said of the All-Star defender. “He’s pretty much on target since his surgery as far as coming back. We’re hopeful that he’ll have a good week of training and will be an option for us.”

Trapattoni may take a Long shot

By Liam Mackey
Friday, October 28, 2011
THE build-up to Ireland’s European Championship qualification play-offs against Estonia next month gets off to an early start today when Giovanni Trapattoni unveils his squad at 9am in FAI headquarters in Abbotstown.
After that, the Ireland manager heads west to take up an invitation to visit the Cliffs of Moher, a spectacle which is bound to invite captions of either the ‘looking to a bright future’ or ‘staring into the abyss’ variety, ahead of what will be the decisive games of his tenure. ‘On the brink’, perhaps, might be the most acceptable compromise.

Trapattoni’s main concern for now is the well-being of his strikers, with Kevin Doyle suspended for the first leg, Shane Long all but ruled out by his club West Brom, and Robbie Keane still on the road to recovery, all of which has left Newcastle United’s Leon Best hoping for a recall.

But while Roy Hodgson this week insisted that Long would definitely miss the play-offs with a knee injury, the FAI have not yet officially ruled him out and Trapattoni could well include him in the squad he names today.

Yesterday, Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish defended the controversial challenge by Alan Hutton which could sideline Long for up to six weeks.

“Alan made a tackle, the ball was there to be won,” said McLeish “We feel sorry about the outcome of that one. Shane Long is a wonderful player and we are sorry the lad got injured. But, believe you me, there are challenges like that every single game and, when no-one is hurt, then there is nothing said about it. It is only when a player gets hurt that it is dressed up to look malicious and intentional, and Alan Hutton is not that type of player.”

Meanwhile, Wolves winger Stephen Hunt, a former team-mate of Long’s at Reading, is hoping the striker can defy the odds and recover in time for at least the second leg of the play-offs.

Recalling Long’s superb performance for West Brom against Wolves just after he’d been left out of the Irish team which beat Armenia, Hunt said: "I think we were unlucky to come up against Shane Long when he felt like he should have played for Ireland three days beforehand. He was an angry man that day and he played like an angry man that day.

“If he doesn’t make it, he will be a loss for Ireland,” Hunt added. “He has not totally ruled himself out of it yet so we will see. He might have a chance of making the second game — we don’t know about these things. But Coxie (Simon Cox) came in for the last game and did well. What will be, will be.”

Best is the man hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty. A key player in Newcastle’s unexpectedly flying to start to the season, the striker hasn’t featured in an Irish squad since he was an unused substitute against Paraguay 17 months ago.

A few weeks ago, Trapattoni explained Best’s absence by suggesting that he needed to up his workrate, comments which drew criticism from Best’s club manager Alan Pardew.

And this week Best staked his own claim to a recall saying: “I just need a call, my number hasn’t changed. I am ready to come in and play if Ireland need me and if the management picks me I’ll be delighted. I am confident and playing well for a successful team in the best league in the world. That can only help Ireland.”

Another forgotten striker, Anthony Stokes, would also love to hear from Trapattoni.

“Honestly, I would love to be back in the international set-up, but there is nothing I can do if I don’t get in there,” said the Celtic man.

"I am playing reasonably well at the moment and I am happy with my performances. I still want to improve but if I get the call it would be great.’’

Over to Trapattoni and his morning call.

Ireland Squad:
Given, Westwood, Forde, O’Shea, Kelly, Ward, Dunne, St. Ledger, O’Dea, McShane, Whelan, McCarthy, Coleman, Andrews, Fahey, Gibson, Keogh, Duff, McGeady, Hunt, Lawrence, Keane, Doyle, Long, Walters, Cox.

Long and Keane in.

Kilbane out. I think he’s recovered from injury.

Trap specifically mentioned Leon Best as a potential call up if Long doesn’t make it.

No other real changes from previous squad that jump out at me.

Skys Enda Brady tweeted earlier that the squad contained a massive surprise - who is that? Long or Keane?

Shane Long despite being injured, I’d say.

Ward, McShane, Keogh - ffs

Sad thing is Ward will probably start

With O’Shea looking very doubtful it will be Kelly who will probably start at right fullback and Ward at left full. Tierney would be a great addition if he were to be available should we qualify. Tough call on Kilbane to leave him out of squad though.

Westwood and Meyler came on for Sunderland yesterday. Westwood made a great save from Bent with the outside of his foot. I think he has the makings of a cracking keeper, surprised he isn’t first choice. Meyler has a dodgy tache.

Given still looks a little iffy to me at the moment.
Dunne played very well and got a goal but committed a stupid foul late on that led to the set piece they equalised from. He is probably the
only Irish player in decent form heading into the playoffs which is worrying. If he got injured it doesn’t bear thinking about.

Ireland and Clark were unused subs.

McGeady played full game in three nil victory over Lokomotiv yesterday.

O’ Dea has just gone off after half an hour for Leeds against Cardiff , only reading updates but looks like an injury has forced the change.
