Think Spain were probably most adversely affected by refereeing decisions against South Korea in the quarter-final.
Anyone who disputes the Grosso penalty either knows nothing about football or is a WUM.
Anyone who disputes it with you would be an idiot because youâre very one eyed and bitter. You didnât even get a full day of enjoyment without going into perceived injustice
Agree with you in the main . That said this was an overall moderate standard tournament (if very entertaining ).
Germany werenât great. Spain were toothless . Belgiumâs 2 best players were not fully fit . France blew it . Portugal didnât really click . Holland are very average .
The gap from best to worst was probably the narrowest itâs ever been, even with the extended number of teams
In the last 16 maybe but there were some dross here
Every team gave at least one good performance Hungary gave everyone a rattle. Slovakia had their day etc.
Russia and Turkey alright were septic
I donât think Immobile is far off Toni tbh; similar in that had a couple of great club seasons but not actually a top class all-round player. Well off a Vieri though.
But outside of that, and Emerson being an obvious weak link as a defender, the rest of the squad is filled with technically really good footballers. They can all play, they can pass, their touch is good, they can all move. Rice & Phillips had good tournaments but in purely footballing terms, the Italians are on a different level completely in midfield.
Insigne, Chiesa & Berardi are probably as good attacking players as theyâve had in a long time.
I fancied them for the tournament right from the start because of the strength across the board that they had, coupled with Mancini clearly being a good manager.
You are talking out of your arse.
A clear as day penalty.
The shocking decision in that game was to reduce Italy to 10 men in the first half when Matrix got a straight red for tackling his own teammate.
Right you are mate.
Glad to see the Euros win wasnât wasted on you anyway
I just made the point that we were robbed in 2002 by a convicted drug trafficker.
You sought to bizarrely equate that as karma for Italy being awarded a genuine penalty in 2006 in a game where they were unjustly down to 10 men for most of it.
Materazzi was sent off in the second half and it was a very bad challenge which took out the Aussie as well as the Italian
This was 2006, it was a rough challenge but the only one in danger was Cannavaro there.
It was a shocking decision and nearly cost Italy.
Could you imagine the reaction if the greatest refereeing injustice in the history of international soccer, the Diego Maradona handball was perpetrated on Italy and not England.
We played 7 games at the Euros this summer. I only complained about the refereeâs performance in one match, where an English cheat tried to fuck us against Austria.
I am a fair and objective observer.
Youâd have to laugh, you really would.
Thereâs such a perpetual irrational anger in this fella, the sort of fella youâd see at an EDL march, obsessed with perpetual fake victimhood, he has a fierce want in him, as they say.
Italy hacked Diego Maradona out of the 1982 World Cup. Outside of Naples, Maradona was absolutely hated in Italy. That hatred of him was very racist.
The mass booing of the Argentine national anthem at the 1990 World Cup final by the Italian crowd still seething that Maradona and Argentina had dumped Italy out in the semi-final was very, very nasty indeed and a harbinger of the hooliganism that would go on to blight Italian football in the succeeding decades.
Some lads not taking last nightâs result too well.
Itâs a shame. Youâd think the sort of chap that would have a meltdown on Twitter over being suspended from TFK would be considerate and moderate. Turns out he might be a touch unhinged.
Rome is the capital of Europe
