Obviously the ease at which the cross came in is the fundamental reason but the centre halves donā€™t communicate well. CCV should move across and stop that I think. Starfelt should have let him know.

Defensively - simlpy not good enough.

Considering all the missing players and the fact that the team is new and hasnā€™t really had much gametime together we played well tonight. Need some reinforcements in midfield at least. Defence might gel a bit better as the season goes on.

We played better than we expected. Maybe didnā€™t really deserve to draw or win with the defending but there were more positives than negatives there.

We were really good going forward and good to see Ajeti and Jota playing well. When we get Kyogo, Abada and Forrest back as well as Johnston and the Greek we should be ok there but weā€™re going to struggle for a few weeks.

Hopefully McCarthy can come into the midfield rotation now because weā€™ll certainly need him.

I donā€™t know how much better weā€™ll get at the back. We have players capable of individual errors but we play so high that weā€™ll get exposed every time. In a other system CCV might get away for taking the wrong step for their second goal, in this one itā€™s a goal for them.

We can probably do better at blocking crosses but we ask our full backs to play narrow defensively and then push forward when theyā€™re wide so itā€™s a big ask to be tight to wingers. And Jota certainly isnā€™t going to do a heā€™ll of a lot of tracking back.

Still we had opportunities to clear the ball on the first and fourth goals and didnā€™t manage it. And for the second we needed Soro closing down better and CCV throwing himself at the cross.
