European Super League Super Thread

Are Porto in it?

PSG?

Actually you’re right, Porto are not involved officially yet I think although strongly rumoured to be involved.

It’s pretty hard to keep up.

The whole thing is testing my belief in sources.

Porto says no

My man in Porto hasn’t confirmed yet.

I dont have an issue with a European super league. The champions league has been a version of that for years now. But…

  1. Spurs and Arsenal have no business being in it
  2. I think the idea of it being a closed shop is wrong. I think the way forward would be to allow qualification to it, relegation/promotion or whatever.

What happens when the “big six” in the European Super League decide to ditch the other six that are holding them back?

Then the “big three” decide to ditch the small three of the big six?

Is the natural end of all this Real Madrid playing among themselves 38 times a year?

This means more Money.

Who would have know Liverpool Winning the EPL would ruin the game

They have a lot lot more money?

“You see, teamwork will only take you so far. Then, the truly evolved person makes that extra grab for personal glory. Now, I must discard my teammates, much like the boxer must shed roll after roll of sweaty, useless, disgusting flab before he can win the title. Ta!”

Will this cripple domestic football in Ireland? Clubs struggle to survive at the best of times, but the UEFA money, both directly from qualifying for European competition & that which the FAI gets, is a large part of what sustains them.

You would imagine that will substantially decrease if there is a proper breakaway.

There is also an opportunity in it too. Might be a bit of disenfranchisement for the Irish Soccer fans with their English Franchise. Only 4 Irish clubs a year get European money. More fans in the gate would cover that fairly quickly. Apart from Dundalks Euro money which was obviously exceptional this year

Probably more likely that they’ll all start supporting Leeds.

This is the way

Leeds could be a bet to beat the pool tonight.

One should never bet on a game involving Leeds. They could literally be anything

This is the way Sky would have reported on the Boston Tea Party

23 years is a curious number. Until 2045 is it then?
