Local industrialists like Jack Walker in Blackburn and Sir John Hall in Newcastle were largely vilified back in the 1990’s outside of their own clubs for pumping a few million into their hometown clubs. Today, nobody bats an eyelid about Chelsea bankrolled by Russian state money or Citeh by dirty middle eastern oil money.

This is all horse racing’s fault

That and David Moores

It’s Pickford’s actually - the Butterfly effect

Sky weren’t so coy when they tried to buy Man Utd in the 90s about greed and monopolies in football

No it was Moores

Surprised Carra didn’t mention it

Who do you think are the weak points of the 12?

I think it’s Liverpool and Barcelona. The fact that this is being led by Real Madrid is a handy out for Barcelona, there’s a perception they are being dragged by Madrid and that won’t go down well in Catalonia. Barcelona’s membership structure is a weak point which could be used to get at them. I expect Liverpool and Manchester United to have the most fan opposition. I suspect Fenway are more prone to folding than the Glazers.

Juventus and Real Madrid are the ringleaders. Manchester United and Liverpool are hot on their coat tails. I think the rest are followers, how they move will depend on the big four holding firm.

FIFA’s stance here is going to be crucial. I would guess the existence of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar may be playing a part in PSG’s reluctance to get involved. If FIFA come out against this, PSG might stay out. If FIFA come out for it, they’ll be in, but that would only be a by product of the whole thing getting the go ahead because if FIFA are in it’s definitely going ahead.

John Henry has been championing this hard for a few years now…

He has to go.

If he digs in he’ll be another Hicks and Gillett in the eyes of Liverpool supporters. Liverpool is the one place in England where you really, really don’t want to make an enemy of the locals, because they will make life hell for you.

FSG out.

Klopp in.

Klopp has been shown as hollow and spineless in this debacle.

Settle yourself. The grown-ups are sorting it out.

There once was a dream that was Liverpool. Genuine LFC supporters like @sidney would never have stood for this

Talk is cheap.

Klopp answers to money, not morals.

The ultimate in snowflakeism.

Barca probably need the money more than any of the others though

Micky Harte gave up his morals for free

PSG opposition is a personal thing of the owner and nothing else. He is good friends with the UEFA guy on the news all day. They’ll be signing up when cooler heads prevail.
