Itâs a Sporting Mecca
Not too many goin to Thomond these days though.
Itâll be something to do alright and might keep the tour groups in the city a bit longer.
At the moment Iâd imagine most just do the castle and leave as I canât think of much else for a large group to do.
I spent the day in Limerick as a âtouristâ the other week with the flamethrower and little one.
A walk up around and inside King Johnâs castle from the Arthurâs key car park, walked back in across the river past the treaty stone. Walked up Thomas Street and down Williams Street and then over to the milk market which had a Bastille Day celebration on and limited space and stalls. Ended up in Cobblestone Joeâs for lunch.
Iâd say if we got three hours out of it and I was dragging the arse out of it at that. Very little to do if just pottering about. You would find it easier to put half a down in Bunratty between the folk park, restaurants and shops
Cruises Street and Williams Street would turn anyone off visiting the place. Both need a complete overhaul, they would remind you of a one horse English town.
Thatâs the pandemic for you kid
I canât get my head around why anyone would want to go to Limerick for anything other than a match and even at that the LITGG is a pretty uninspiring bowl.
It is a good and underrated spot for a night out. Very nice mix of pubs catering for all ages and tastes and most of the livelier spots all within a few hundred metres of each other or a short walk.
Aside from that there is fuck all. As I said before, whoever was doing the urban planning in the last century made a fuck of it. The whole city centre is facing away from the river when it should be the focal point
I have never been out in Limerick in my life and have no real intention of ever going there, even though itâs only 35 minutes away.
If you like good porter and proper pubs then you are the one missing out
What do the tourists do in adare for the day? Walk around the manor?
What tourists will visit it tho? Americans wont go near it - Most Irish wouldnt either⌠Youâre relying on match day crowds and a few school tours.
Shur all your cousins are in Tipp. Youâd get the ride far easier with them.
Youâd be surprised, if itâs a focal point people from all over will visit
On my travels around the world Iâve visited all sorts of attractions Iâve had no interest in, even enjoyed some,in Australia alone it was the AFL museum in Melbourne, a cricket thing in Adelaide, a rum factory in Queensland, while stranded in Vientiane because of Chinese new year I spent the bones of two days in the National museum of Laos
If itâs well recieved it will bring them in
Agreed. If you were doing a power list it would def be in top 30 or 40 Town in Ireland for a night out
Thereâs even less to do in Galway City â Cork hasnt exactly a ton of sights in the City either.
Youâve sold it well there
Some of the locals are dead set against it for some reason.
What do you reckon will go in there when it shuts?
Americans will go where they are told.
The museum will do deals with tour group operators and theyâll bring the punters.
I hope it does as Limerick City is an absolute joke currently and needs something to attract people.
