Ya I must check it out. Did you see it? I doubt they went into the two years of in parish fueding that led up to purchase of the building?

A fued is the only way to get anything done around here

It looked nice

Did they give any insight into how west Limerick managed to swindle all the Carnegie money ?

No. Go on.

I dunno the story but saw a breakdown once of where all the various Carnegie libraries were and west limerick had a disproportionate amount

The libraries in Limerick were built by two district councils, Rathkeale and Newcastle West. The councillors gave in to pressure from small localities to provide library buildings, and there would have been more if it were not for the efforts of the Carnegie UK Trust to curb the numbers. It is also likely that there was some rivalry between the councils.

Lord and Lady Monteagle, Thomas Oā€™Donnell, and John Pius Boland

The library movement in Limerick was helped by Lord and Lady Monteagle of Mount Trenchard, Foynes, in the interest they took in rural development and in the provision of library buildings. Elizabeth, Lady Monteagle was a member of Rathkeale Rural District Council and a member of the library committee, and it is likely that she was influential in guiding the committee. She was entrusted with the task (probably at her own suggestion) of calling on Carnegie, when he was to be in Limerick to lay the foundation stone of Limerick library and receive the freedom of the city. The purpose of the meeting was to ask Carnegie to increase the grant for the Rathkeale libraries by Ā£1,000, and he agreed to do so

How much did the Government give Troy Studios that time? Iā€™m pretty sure they got a substantial sum of money between the council, the government etc etc is there any come back now that the boys sail off into the sunset?

Itā€™s always the way ā€¦the rubby museum will go the same way in a few years.

From what I remember the council bought and paid for the fit out of the building. I thought Ardmore only leasing it from them.

I hope they got paid so, that would pay for nearly 10 parklets

Anyone pass the muslanian gathering outside st michaelā€™s church near the park? Lots of flags, speeches and traditional dressā€¦

For what died the son of RĆ³isĆn?
Was it for greed?

Some shortage of rooms for UL students I canā€™t understand how a college will keep adding courses and increasing student numbers while not having sufficient accommodation. Such a business.

Have a friendā€™s young fella who is looking for a room near the college if ye hear of anything let me know.

Iā€™d imagine a lot of the student rental accomodation was rented out to non students during the pandemic
