Even more mayhem regarding Limerick

Great new for Limerick and active travel. A compromise was always going to be found

looks like its an ammended scheme - enough to get the funding but not the best outcome for VRUs

Cllr Daniel Butler on Twitter: ā€œ@ConorSheehan93 Again to be clear. We did not cook it up. We are not the experts. This was presented to us all as modification 1 last Friday & Saturday by the Active Travel team in consultation directly with the NTA. The team also today clearly stated that it meets the project objectives.ā€ / Twitter

But such is life, there will always need to be compromise.

I suppose the possibility of Fingal or Cork getting the money probably pushed them over the edge.

Yep, Ryan played them for fools

Seems like theyā€™ve created a kill zone. Sounds serious.

There is no compromise here, the problem is the parked cars, and the cars are still gonna be parked, the road is too narrow for two way cycle paths, particularly as one is contraflow (my new word),
Nothing has been achieved for the controversial stretch, it seems more dangerous than ever in fact.

couldnā€™t you just cycle in Oā€™Connell Avenue?

Certainly looks like madness based on Google Maps. No space for a bike lane there at all if cars are parked.

What will the 5m be spent on?

by the time the vultures have a pick at it thereā€™ll be a couple of quid left for a careful now sign at the top of the road

who voted for & who voted against this?

seriously though, havenā€™t they spent or are spending fortunes updating Oā€™Connell Street for bikes and pedestrians, why couldnā€™t you just go one road over for getting in to and out of town and then use the side roads to get off Oā€™Connell street to where you want to go, there are loads at all the major places youā€™d need to get to on SCR

That article is some disgrace and it took two of them to write it.

So long as the new cycle lane involves taking out all the speed ramps, Iā€™m all for it.

Seriously though, pedestrianising that section would be a solution. That would shut them up fast.

I saw the list earlier, all the councilors living in the area voted against this ridiculous proposal on the grounds that it was a waste of time and money that would be better spent elsewhere, thatā€™s Oā€™Donovan (SD), Leddin (Lab) and Collins (FF)

That article is a joke, there was never any doubt that it would be approved, they want the money but without compromise

About 20 houses holding the city to ransom. If it was Moyross theyā€™d have bulldosed their houses, nevermind worrying about them losing a parking space

Iā€™d say itā€™s true for you

Iā€™d say we have a traitor in our midst.
