There’s no doubt that busy nights during the week do rely on students.
There’s 14,000 students in UL, a few thousand in both Mary I & LIT.
Obviously if you take 20k people out of the reckoning, plus holidays, etc; there’s going to be a fair dent in the amount of people out late during the middle of the week.
But the Locke has been mobbed pretty much every evening for the last two weeks. So have Katie Daly’s, JJ Bowles, the White House, Crew. And the likes of Flannerys, Myles Breens, the Glen all seem to be doing their usual business.
Maybe the late night places are quieter during the week, you would imagine so.
But I’m sure Angel Lane & Molly’s will be flying once the Leaving Cert ends.
Limerick is in as good a place as it has been in 40 years. Retail is dying, but that’s everywhere. They need to get more people living in the city, same as everywhere. A lot done, a lot more to do, Limerick abu
I’ve drank in 6 of the above + Sexton’s over the past two weeks. It’s nice to have a pint or two in the sun.
Students can’t get in a lot of places but you would see a good helping of them around town alright; they seem to be richer than I was when I was a student. Although, a lot of students would only be arriving in around 11pm, maybe go to one pub first and then on somewhere else.
