Im going to say yes. YES THEY ARE. People got fucked with staycations last year. Financially raped. At least there’s still value to going abroad and you’ll get better weather. Everyone wants a trip abroad this year.

Fintan O’Toole had an article today rubbishing DAA heads saying that predictions for 2022 had only been for X percentage of passenger numbers, sure everyone knew Irish people would want to fly in 2022 said FOT, who had spent the previous two years calling for zero covid and a complete ban on all travel in and out of Ireland.

Not defending this guy who comes across as a complete goon whenever I hear him interviewed but the recent problems at Dublin airport are not unique to Dublin. Thousands of people missed flights this weekend in the UK, there’s been similar issues in Schipol and other airports in the last few weeks and months. It’s a consequence of not being able to scale up again in time to meeting passenger numbers returning to normal after the last 2 years.

They took the chance to get rid of a rake of staff to cut conditions for for rehired staff. They should be put in the stocks.
Government supports were put in place to specifically prevent situations like this and allow businesses retain their trained staff.
