Faldo's DIY General thread

@FatChops et al.

We moved into a new house in November. I think the (gas) boiler would have been installed in August direction.

This evening, the heat stopped working (hot water still fine).

Going to call a few plumbers etc tomorrow but is there something I should be looking out for in advance of those conversations? I’ve looked through the controls etc but can’t seem to find a fault etc and I’m fairly clueless (in general, some would say) about all of this

You went to college in Mary I. It’s safe to say that you shouldn’t go near anything technical or mechanical. Stand well back from it.

I think that’s a very fair comment mate.

Rise your climate control by a few degrees
Probably set too low

That yoke I took a pic of
If it’s too low the heat won’t kick in

Aye. I think the child was messing with thermostat the messer. I’d it sorted there now anyway :joy:

I heard the heat pump roaring last week when I came home from work and imagine my surprise when I saw the thermostat up at 26 degrees :scream:. The youngest flinched first and won’t see roblox till April.

So the wheel has been in The Bike Shop about six weeks now. He brought it in the day after your post above.

He passes that way a lot and calls in. Mike never seems to be there now. There’s always a queue of people. At first he says he hadn’t the right tool to take it off. Then he was waiting for a part. Now there’s something lost. Total disaster of a shop.

Is there any other bike repair shops in Limerick now?

Go out to Paul Gammell in Kilmallock. Place there in behind the castle. A gent.

Plus the bikes they sell are absolute rubbish.I bought 3 off him back at the start of COVID and all were broken about a month later

Ah Jesus you can’t be bringing in a bike for repairs to Mike :grinning:
It will literally never get done unless you pester him.
The lads in evolution cycles are brilliant, it’ll be done immediately, but not cheaply

Are the Hub still out there Coonagh direction?

Raw Cycles on Ballysimon Road did a few jobs for me and were decent enough

I suppose they are.

I always went into The Bike Shop for years so told the young lad to go in there.
I didn’t realise he’d get such a run-around.

He also brought in a grand bike belonging to a friend. All it needed was some new cables but I didn’t know exactly what to buy, so I told him bring in the whole bike and get them to price the cables alone and supply and fit. They told him it wasn’t worth fixing up. Wouldn’t give him either price.

That’s the way the world is gone now. A sham…

Mike got too busy selling bikes, he was running what seemed to be the busiest shop in Limerick during lockdown, he has no interest in repairs

Honestly, evolution is expensive but the lads there will give you plenty of time and sell you the parts if you want to try it yourself, they’re sound, don’t be intimidated by the 10 grand bikes lying around
