Green?

I take it you’re referring to the folk/staff/customers of Mnster Joinery.

You can fuck right off with that comment then @caoimhaoin . I’d priced, at keenest offering, a crowd near Omagh to supply and fit and they quoted €2650 having come and measured. MJ sent a local operative to price the windows to make - €1200…

@farmerinthecity’s pal (MTR’s brother) fitted them for €500…Top job. I wouldn’t have a word said against Munster Joinery.

Unless you’ve rocked and rolled with people, comments like yours are in poor taste. Consider your comment rightfully clamped…

NO, what is wrong with people here, can they not fucking read?

There is a reason you are getting a cheap quote.

Have a problem with a slow-draining downstairs toilet. It doesn’t overflow and flushes fine after a long pause but if you flush it a second time in an hour it takes a few minutes to drain properly.

I’ve plunged it and I got a snake thing in Woodies that I poked around with but can’t find any blockage. Also tried some washing up liquid and bleach and random chemical stuff to no avail.

So I think I’m at the point I need assistance.

Can’t ask my father-in-law and I had my brother-in-law over last weekend to bleed all my radiators but he had no advice on this problem. What’s my next step? A plumber or a Dyno Rod type outfit? I’m suspicious that I’m simply being handed on a problem from my neighbours because 2 doors up had a Dyno Rod van outside their gaff for a couple of days about 3 weeks ago and suddenly my toilet stops behaving itself.

I suppose if you get the capacity of your cistern, do a bit of maths and work out how far down the four inch pipe the blockage is. Then you’ll know if it’s caused by your neighbor just pushing it down the pipe.

Is the problem with any other toilet?

Do you have access to the drain outside, usually a square metal lid or a round plastic one?

Has Croppy been to your house lately? Particularly on a weekend?

Just happening on one toilet. And all sinks and bath etc are fine. Will have a look for a drain presently.

Lift the lid on the drain then get someone to flush the toilet. If you don’t see it moving along swiftly the blockage is above that point, if it back ups in there it’s below that point. At least if you know where it is you might have some idea. The fact that only one toilet is backing up doesn’t rule out much as it may be the one with the shortest distance to the outside pipe and thus less space to fill.

It’s as if someone had a new baby and just flushed a load of wipes or nappies cos they don’t want to pay their bin charges.

The thought crossed my mind, especially re the wipes

It predates the new born by a few days.

Could the drain be in the garage?

Most unlikely.

There should be a manhole directly outside the wall the toilet is on , It should be on the footpath.

I’d say that’s what’s happened there Rocko. You are probably on a common drain and some cunt has just pushed the blockage down your way. The other possibility is some cunt has been doing work and collapsed or blocked the drain.

I’d be suprised mate. Are you in an estate or what? Have you a big back yard? It could be out the front I suppose or possibly in your neighbours yard if ye are close together?

There’s a square metal drain cover in the garage. Reason I was asking is that’s adjacent to the downstairs toilet. At the back of the house there’s another square metal drain cover and a green plastic one but the last one is very small and I reckon it’s gas related because it’s behind the boiler.

Lift up the metal ones and have a look sure. It’ll be an open pipe if it’s your sewerage.
