Jesus. I never heard of that. Awful tragedy.
Wicked fucking thing. Really shocked the nation.
Doolin is well known for the riptide, not a place you would take kids swimming. The Lisdoon festival drownings was huge at the time, quite the tragedy.
Doughmore is the best beach in West Clare, but thatās a bit of a hike south.
Fanore is your best bet, lovely spot.
8 young lads, 3 brothers from Borris in Carlow among them.
Doughmore is also supposed to be lethal no?
Correct
End of the day. If you donāt know what a rip looks like and/or you donāt know what to do if you get caught in one then stick to beaches with lifeguards.
I never even heard of that story to my knowledge. Wff was I at? Thatās really awful. Three brothers. Thatās put a dampener on my morning.
Doughmore is 100% the nicest beach in west Clare , but only for a walk, because it defo isnāt safe to swim in.
Itās probably the best surfing spot in Clare too.
White Strand Doonbeg is a lovely beach too
That one is ideal for kids.
Staying in The Falls in Ennistymon for a few nights this week. 3 families and a scatter of kids ranging from 6 to 15. Looking for food and beach recommendations please.
Lahinch isnt too far for a beach. If you want somewhere quiter spanish point or white strand miltown malbay. The armada hotel does good food too.
The grub is good in Ennistymon,
Pot Duggans is a cool spot for pints and grub
If thereās still a pub called Philās Place there, avoid.
Also did they ever take the shopping trolleys out of the river?
Sounds like Iām going to feel right at home
Is the Willie Clancy on this week
One of the best festivals in Ireland.
It is. Is it not just a big drinking session?
Iāve never headed to it myself but they do take the music/singing sessions fairly serious. You wouldnt be yahooing or messing.
