I’m not actually certain is that true. I think binky is closer to the truth. Wed be more likely to have an aul spare 20p piece and you could buy a fair bit for it.

True there was value for money but, unless you’re a townie with a shop down the street the treats didnt happen until the weekends mainly, you got your pocket money and you made do. So it was town on a Saturday, get your comic etc and then maybe after Mass of a Sunday.
If you wanted a snack at any time you were either told you were just after eating, dinner will be ready soon or have an apple.
