With you on Western Boy. Looks the very definition of a plot horse here. Got some 20s on machine
If you like Midnight Prayer in the Welsh national id encourage a look at Benvolio’s form. He’ll also have the winkers on for first time
Missed some work according to Murphy and was far from certain to run. Is very well handicapped and if he fails to do the business tomorrow, he will be primed for Theyestes
I did.
what did you think?
I think Midnight Prayer is a much improved horse than Benvolio and will relish the conditions of tomorrow’s contest. I would be surprised if he was not placed at least provided no misfortune.
Benvilio is 2 years his younger and open to way more improvement IMO, esp with the addition of the head gear which Nicholls always uses o maximum effect, a trait we saw again today (Silvinacio)
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
Dessie Mcdonagh was very emotional today during his interview…I’d day Dessie Hughes death had a big impact there , would be lovely to see that horse do the business for him in Che
yes, but I would add some take open debate a lot better than others
Then make the case for Benvolio rather than trying to get me to it for you. Benvolio has never won beyond three miles, they tried cheekpieces on his penultimate start to little effect while last run was less than encouraging. Look at the conditions of tomorrow’s race, look at the form of Benvolio and Midnight Prayer and at the prices Midnight Prayer is the bet all day long.
Benvolio is priced up on Nicholls superb record in this race and is a few points shorter than he should be on all known form IMHO. I’ll be first to hold my hands up if wrong.

the reason he’s never won beyond 3mls is probably because he’s never been tried beyond that distance right? but the last time he met the selection he outstayed him giving weight, being by beneficial the conditions should more than suit
King’s horses were not quite right then AFAIK. You are right, he has not raced beyond 3miles but equally you have to admit that Midnight Prayer has obviously shown much more improved form for these type of tests.
I am assuming like most nicholls horse he needed that first run, that form is clearly not good enough
