The English channels obsession with having ‘foreign’ pundits to show their inclusivity is hard to understand. They simply aren’t good enough at speaking English which should be the first requirement.
No worries Bandage. I actually remember thinking Irwin was quite good on the panel in the 2002 World Cup. Brian Kerr too. They were both genuinely informative pre-game on the less well known teams, which as you say is a novel approach for RTÉ, home of John “I don’t know much about them Bill” Giles.

I found amusing that there were some pundits writing Heinze off seemingly oblivious to the fact that he was part of a Marseille team that won the French title this year. It was a Yordan Letchkov-esque header.

Nigeria should target Gutierrez with every cross. It is a wierd set up Argentina have. Mascherano needs a passer next to him and Veron has used the ball well so far but will hardly have the legs to last the tournament you would think. Messi has been unplayable so far. Great to see.
