Hurling in Dublin is not strong and doesn’t MATTER and yet it’s a good deal stronger than sawker is in the USA.
In a representative team field sport, the game has to MATTER for you to be a powerhouse.
The USA are like Australia, and in per capita terms they’re weaker. They don’t produce class players who are wanted by top European clubs. Even the Aussies have produced a few class players in their time but none in the last 20 years. The US’s greatest ever player is Landon Donovan.
The game is not played on the street there. Until young fellas are out playing football on the street there instead instead of shooting the hoops - which will never happen - the US will be also rans in sawker.
The best the US and Australia can hope to be is to be the real life equivalent of very slow teams on the Sensible Soccer computer game who are being controlled by a very nifty joystick operator.
White Americans are only good at team sports that aren’t very skilful and don’t require a lifetime of skills development on the street. They might be useful at new Gaelic football.
