In my mind Fernando Muslera was the Uruguayan goalkeeper when they had a fella sent off after 40 seconds against Scotland in 1986 and Scotland could not score in the remaining 90 minutes.
Lots of these Uruguay players have brought their club form or lack of it here. Ugarte and Bentacur are anonymous. As is Nunez. Thats a fantastic save by Muslera

Muslera doesnt have much help back there. Edit he could have done a lot better with the 1st effort.
No pressure on the first header though, was able to generate a lot of power.
Jesus, theyāre absolutely hopeless at the back. For a nation that was historically known for hard as nails defending.
They need to move Valverde into the middle for sure.

Uruguays left back 17 is particularly bad. Itās a bit like the small rural club with the weak player at corner back.

Uraguayans seem to have a female like understanding of the offside rule.
That Vinas was not only offside there but he took the ball off the head of his teammate who was in a better position and onside.
Valverde plays on the right a bit for Real Madrid but heās playing with incredibly talented players there.
Heās not a natural winger, despite that, and heās been shunted out there here to facilitate Bentancur & Ugarte. Who obviously play for bigger clubs than some others in the squad but Valverde is one of the best players in the world and they simply arenāt.
He does seem to be drifting inside a bit more in the second half. Just need him on way more ball.
