Enjoyable second half. Saudi threw themselves in front of some amount of crosses and shots
The changes Bielsa made at half-time definitely worked and they upped the tempo massively aswell.
Valverde is a central player and that Canobbio (drama queen though he was) offered way more out wide.
Nunez had done fuck all (although maybe would have got on the end of crosses in the second half).
The Saudis were better in the first half but they were really hanging on the last 10 minutes or so, probably lucky to survive.

You would think the Saudis and Cape Verde players will be bolloxed for the weekend games against the the big two in the group, very hard to put in back to back defensive shifts like that against superior opposition.
That’s was a very different second half, I’d say the possession must have been 85% Uruguay.
I would have liked to see them get the win.

He was so slow to move the ball
He was better in the second half tbf but he’s a very frustrating player.
There are times when I watch him and I think he has all the attributes to be really top class. His big & strong, he can carry the ball when he wants to, he’s technically good, even able to tackle.
And then there are times where he is beyond woeful. Just does nothing and gets bypassed so easily. Strange player.

Ditto. They’re the only team I’ve watched so far who have tried shooting from range or seem to be instructed to chance your luck from range instead of walking the ball in or play it over and back. Most of them were top quality strikes too that on another day may have gone in.

This is a fantastic game between Iran and New Zealand. At least I think it is as I’ve been mostly asleep for most of it but there seems to be a hell of a lot of shouting going on from the laptop computer lying in a potentially flammable situation on the bed here.
Iran have just got their second equaliser to level up at 2-2 with a lovely glancing header off a superb Beckham-like cross.
Elijah Just of Motherwell has scored twice for the New Zealand All Blacks and the second one was reminiscent of that Yorke-Cole 1-2 goal at the Nou Camp. A case of Elijah slaying Mohammed there.
This is the best game so far and I’m going to try and stay awake for the remaining quarter. Iran have a big support and the atmosphere is good.
