Really enjoyed American Sniper, excellent show.
I thought it was just alright, nothing really different in it from most war films … when you read up on the character played by Cooper you realise they only told half the story about this guy…he is quotes as saying he hates all Muslims, claimed in his book he bet up Jesse Ventura in a bar in California because Ventura was slagging off the America’s war on terror…turns out it was all rubbish and Ventura got €2m in damages…he also claimed to have shot 2 guys trying to car jack him in texas and when cops turned up he gave them a number in pentagon to ring and they let him drive off…turned out to be all nonsense …also there was some stuff about him going to New Orleans during hurricna Katrina and shooting looters…
its basically a film made for the gung ho middle Americans …
I saw Birdman…I thought that was brilliant…thought Ed Norton stole the show…

It’s a Hollywood film, the truth has no business appearing on the big screen.

I read the book. He’s a dickhead.
Reece Witherspoon’s latest movie,Wild, is good. At the start I thought it was a cheap imitation of into the wild but as her back story develops it gets dark and fairly raunchy at times. Some great cinematography and classic songs in it. 7.5/10.
It’s no coincidence that I enjoyed Gone Girl, we’re like chalk and cheese these day mate,
I don’t think it’s a Sunday night movie and I was mad to get to bed to try and get a jump, Fran which probably didn’t help. I can never warm to Ben Affleck either and I think he has a very punchable face.
I actually thought she was quite good in Atonement, a film I really liked. BUt other than that I can’t think of another film I’ve even seen her in. I don’t get this whole thing about her being beautiful either, I think she’s puck as a dog.
While I generally run a mile from American films these days, we watched The Judge with Robert Downey Jnr and Robert Duvall tonight. I thought it was excellent, terrific performances throughout, very little sentimentality or bullshit. 7/10. Soundtrack was very good also. Added bonus that the stunning Vera Farmiga is in it.
Watched American Sniper last night. It’s good for what it is.
Not amazing or anything but solid 7/10 watchable entertainment.
Went to see Whiplash last night. Enjoyable film. Started slow enough, introducing and building up the characters. Brilliant in the middle, fleshed out the different players, really good then. Ending not so good. It was alright but put a bit of a sour taste in the mouth. But solid 7.5/10 for it.
Just finished American Sniper. Meh.
I enjoy from start to finish. 8.5/10.
I watched American Sniper tonight to get in the mood for the Super Bowl.
10/10.
Whiplash was dog shit.
Jog on, cunt.
I am going to put this down to pre game nerves.

agree with that
myself and herself have been murdering each other all week , anyway we went over to Liffey valley to watch this last night
i knew the game was up after about 30 mins, its just a jaded subject now for me ( this war on terror, God/Country/family) not my marriage
i thought it was poor, the whole good guy /bad gut theme was there as well as the theme that most americans have really no idea why they are over blowing up the locals in so dump like Fallujah…
all too simplistic for me really, the scene where he met his wife in the pub was brutal, cringeworthy shite
went to see Birdman last. Excellent film with very strong performances from Keaton and Norton with a surprisingly underrstated performance from fat jesus from the hangover. the female cast seemed underused though, with the exception of yerwan playing the film critic. on the down side, the attempt to make it look like one take starts to get annoying really quick as does the jazz drumming, i was half expecting http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view2/3191310/yes-o.gif at some stage.
7.5/10
wifey thought it was pretentious twaddle and trying too hard to be clever and wanted to leave halfway through and gave it 2/10
