To answer my own question - just chatted with a lady from Clevercards. Seems straightforward - it’s a digital Mastercard so can be used anywhere that accepts Mastercard. 2% fee to purchase (i.e. that’s the cost to employer) but no other costs/charges. That’s what annoyed me about One4All - they start charging people a monthly fee after a year on the card. Employees get a link to the card and then load it onto the digital wallet on their smartphone
I’ll pass on your feedback to the OneForAll chaps. He’s front page of better business magazine this issue i believe…
We’ve used Perx incentive cards the past few years, same idea as clever cards, works the same as any debit card.
If i own a company how much can i give a giftcard for tax free? And could i gift myself one? Hypothetically…
You can now give an employee a Tax free voucher gift up to 1,000
I’m not sure if you can do it for yourself as self employed/owner.
500 I think.
It’s 1000 now, was brought in at the last budget.
Could you find out.?
Looks like you can
All our lads got all gifts vouchers. Very cumbersome. You literally have to download the voucher of any store you want to spend it in. I gave mine to the wife and she had to go through who accepts them and who didn’t
Yeah, you definitely can. It applies for anyone who is on the payroll of the company.
It’s a pretty good deal all round. No PAYE/USC/PRSI for the employee and no PRSI for the employer
Perx is basically just a debit card with cash on it is it? So way way better than one4all?
Ya that’s it. It’s way way better. You can use it online etc. It’ll be like you are just putting 1000 straight into a different current account.
Tax deductable for employers too as a cost
Shur you can’t be going to an argument with Revenue with “earmarking” ffs, they will go to town on you.
And the father is a solicitor, he should be ashamed of himself.
This is good news. Well done to Revenue, I’m sure that money will be put to good use.
I wonder what the “sporting achievements” were?
If I had to stick my neck out I’d go with schools rugby.
That or Ultimate Frisbee
