Yeah, unless you are wearing a heartstrap forget about wrist based HR
Those HR monitors on the wrist are only a cod
Don’t see any times from that plus 25 brigade any more. Bandage has fucked it up for all of us who had 25 mins as a goal. Lads convinced themselves that the fast lads were a different breed altogether and they couldn’t possibly train hard enough to get that much faster. But hes just gone from being a useless cunt to an absolute flying machine and there’s no where to hide anymore now.
Are you saying I literally ran these bastards off the running threads?
That was never my intention.
Fuck it missed all this… When’s the next challenge… The kid is getting back at it…
You have until paddys day …
Just saw that
Broke up today and stiff after that. The time was at 75 mins plus I’d say. Good buzz but as you can imagine the majority of participants were those apes that love a bit of tag rugby. The bruce Lee was off the richter and would convince a man to do hell and back in the summer when they’re wearing less clobber.
I went out last night with a serious runner who is going to be a 1:40 pacer for a half marathon on Sunday. She wanted to run half the route at the race pace for her to get familiar with it. After the first 500m at 4:15 pace the race pace went out the window
She’d be a 42 mins 10km runner so we decided to go along at a decent clip and see how long I could hang on for. I wasnt far off broken after 6km where we had to face into a full 2km uphill stretch and a downhill finish. My achilles felt like it was about to explode and I had aches in places I’ve never felt pain before as we hit 10km. I lasted another km before waving the white flag.
For a finish I’d ran 11km in quicker than I was running 10km’s this time last year. Shaved over 2 and a half minutes off my previous fastest 10k. A 5km time that felt ridiculously fast yet comfortable for me. I still couldn’t overhaul @TreatyStones though.
That’ll be it for the fast stuff for me for a while. Time to hit the trails and bogs for the next few months
Serious running
I was supposed to do the Milford 10k this Sunday but something has come up so i don’t think I’ll make it. Bit disappointing as I’m feeling pretty good at the moment, so I might try and squeeze a 10k in myself on Saturday and see how it goes.
I’ll be doing a 10k trail race on Sunday that’ll probably take me the guts of 80-85 mins to do. 500m odd elevation. Roughly 3-4kms in it where you’re going up an incline of over 10% or so
A noble hospice is Milford, good on you nonetheless
Good judging by his heartrate. That’s a fine run.
Legs pretty tired, hit the wall after around 26km despite heart rate being under control. Need to be careful to avoid aggravating a lower calf/achilles niggle too. I hope I’m not getting the same thing that’s been bothering you @fenwaypark.
You dont want that. Plenty of ice. If you feel anything on next run, abort. Don’t run through it. No harm in booking a sports massage, to give the legs the once over
As @fenwaypark says get a sports massage and buy a foam roller or a massage gun. With that sort of mileage it won’t take long for things to seize up
The near minute and a half break over three (3) stops helps too. Putting that to one side, great effort, some distance.
