Looking for decent grub on the Bruff Line
I asked a local for a grub recommendation in NCW around Christmas and was advised that the Brown Morel was the pick of a very bad bunch.
The place at the New Park in Croom is OK for a lunch
Open to correction but Neville’s only serve food Monday to Friday from 5.30pm onwards.
Lovely grub, couple of Euro more expensive than elsewhere but worth it for quality. €15.50 for fish and chips but very filling.
Great soakage.
Speaking of food in west Limerick - there has been a rake of HSA inspections lately.
That chipper in Rathkeale on the corner where the old Superbites was shut down lately according to the Leader last week. Think it’s called Ali Baba or something, load of Pakistani lads operating it. The inspectors found evidence of someone using the area where the food was stored as a sleeping quarters!
Closer to home the local Chinese was shut down briefly just before Christmas but re-opened again just as quickly. Made a killing off the Rathkeale based travellers who were travelling to/from Bulgaden for all their weddings over the festive period. Every night there was a mini battalion of UK reg Landrovers and Rangerovers parked up.
The HSA should publish the reasons for closures.
They did/do. Think it’s up on their website. It was definitely outlined in the local papers anyway.
The auld fella was telling me the reasons at the time. All I remember him saying is “they didn’t find rats in there anyway.”
It’s when I wrap my fist around your big Paki jaw mate.
I’d say the Italian he is on about is La Regazzi used be in the square across from the L&N. It was nice but closed a few years now. I’ve heard decent things about the Brown Morrell dinner menu but the lunch menu is only meant to be avaerage. It is located in the town centre just on the corner of bridge Street and the square.
I hope the Indian lads in “Nice bites” next door to Iron Mike’s are in the clear.
The poor lads in Ali Baba were hard done by, twas probably a @Brimmer_Bradley style character using his mates premises to get a bit of shut eye.
Thought that was owned by a prominent Balbeckian of hurling renown?
Used to be two of them in it. The Indian lads seem to be there for a while now.
Balbeckindians then.
There’s a much nicer chipper in Rathkeale, right next door.
I only know the stump mate, is it close to that?
Benji’s is the name of it.
The predictably named Benji burger is delightful.
The sea food chowder is beautiful in nevilles. I’ve eaten there a few times now. Pricey though.
The same lads are opening up a kebab shop in kildimo shortly
Kildimo needs that .
Its in a shed across from the old creamery, looks class
