Ah it’s different when you’re friendly with someone in that club or are one connection away from knowing someone on the team. Same could be said of county of course but I’d categorise a GAA Footix as someone who attends inter-county games only and doesn’t participate in a club. The lads who have an in-depth knowledge of the club scene are just Fíor Gaels.
As a Footix, I’m not happy with European Rugby scheduling the blockbuster Leinster v Stade Rochellais clash against defending champions Manchester United’s FA Cup tie verses Arsenal.
Were I to be in a pub this afternoon, the situation would be exacerbated. We should be working together in solidarity, not tearing each other apart.

Paddy Footix arguing furiously as to which side of the Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers divide their favourite clubs of choice would align themselves. Maybe the native Mancs and Scousers simply don’t care.

I am reading the Brian O’Connell book “Wasted” and the story of John Leahy glassing a fella in Manchester over a row about association footix is peak footix. Two out of towners getting in a row because one is a “united fan” and the other is a “scouser”. ffs.
