I’m with NCC on this one, he’s absolutely right. Crime is the sign of a failure in society. The death penalty is a sure sign of a failed society.
If we concentrated more on preventing crime, than on half arsed attempts to punish it, which fail time after time, we wouldn’t be having stupid conversations like this.
Freakonomics theory about legalisation of abortion fits nicely with this statistic. Maybe that is a better option.

It’s a piece full of empathy and compassion for somebody who made a mistake at a young age, has rehabilitated himself as a human being while in prison and whom executing serves no purpose whatsoever other than giving political capital to a corrupt scumbag of a politician.
Meanwhile the likes of you are baying for the blood of nine prisoners, one of whom is mentally ill, another who has always maintained her innocence and had no proper legal representation.

Go back to the first post in this thread. You argue for the death penalty for two men in New Zealand, which doesn’t have the death penalty. Who’s arguing nonsense now?
And if you want to get into a nonsensical argument about racism, perhaps there’s an element of racism in your own post because the incident happened in a country where the majority of people are white, and thus the incident merits more coverage than something which happens in a non-white country like, say, Indonesia, which doesn’t matter to you? I’m not actually trying to make that argument, just demonstrating the circular stupidity and hypocrisy of what you argue.
