Formula One

It’s a strange one - there is no shortage of tracks in the US but almost every time they try and host a race there since they stopped going to Watkins Glen there has to be some daft premise behind the venue.

When did they stop using Indianapolis? I can’t remember how long ago it was, but remember they spent.a fortune and annoyed a lot of people with the changes they made to the track.

2008 was the last race. Went to fuck after the 2006 shit show.

They need to be a grade 1 FIA track. Only purpose built tracks in the US with that rating is COTA and Indy infield layout.

2005 was the 6 car race. The Indy racecourse was a god awful track.

They would need to do work to bring one of the existing courses up to standard alright but this is a country that held GPs in a carpark at the end of the day.

Future tracks:
A Hollywood street circuit (they will do this)
A US/Mexico Grand Prix on a new track built through holes in Trump’s wall
The Burning Man Grand Prix
A track along the stretch of freeway where OJ Simpson was being chased by police
A Dallas street circuit including Dealey Plaza with the finish line at the exact point Kennedy was shot

Yup F1 changed a heap of regulation after that race too, including a race cannot start with less than 12 cars.

It was a poor track. Street circuits arent great either. Dont see another F1 specific track being built there either. There was a purposed NY street circuit (in NJ).

You can sense Ukyo Katayama’s spiritual successor having an off course excursion at the grassy knoll already.

So, was the Last Vegas GP any good?

The greatest grand prix in the history of the sport. Incredible win from Max. Charles ducked down into second on the last corner from Perez, he left a door open that he really shouldnt have had. Bit of a dust up on the first turn but all in all a great success for the sport.

Best race track in the US but I think the corkscrew is too tight and steep for F1 cars

It’s also very short, laps for F1 cars would be around the minute mark.

Want the worst tbf

Was a decent race bar Max winning as usual.

You’d wonder what Red Bull are using to give him such speed off the line whether on clean or dirty side of the track.

Christian Horner on Sky there now denying having had anything to do with the complaint. Strange story :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

He did well enough on a small budget. Must have got fed up with it all. Hope to see him back (for the entertainment if anything).

@Heyyoubehindthebushes there was a rival series to Formula 1 about 10 or 15 years ago where the different teams were identified by country. Ireland had a team in it Might have been shown on Sky before they got the rights
