France Versus Ireland Second Leg

Rock, u still hoping to get paid for your indepth analysis? , sit back for 70 mins, high balls down the touchline etc. I’d worry for the TFK astro team this year if a tactical neanderthal like yourself has sway over important decisions.

Seems we cant just take our beating. Its a little sickening to be honest. Let it go everyone.

Last night showed that we can play a bit. Robbie Keane dropping deeper offered a passing option to our central midfielders constantly. Same as our wide players, Lawrence in particular tucking in. The problem with the flat 442 as employed by us for the majority of the campaign is that our players were too isolated up front. The distance between our central midfielders and strikers was too much and our wide players were typically stuck to the sideline. Last night we were much more fluid tactically and as a result Andrews and Whelan had far more options to pass the ball to than before. Going forward id love to see our full backs push on more like Kilbane last night for the goal. The best way to defend it to keep the ball. We kept a clean sheet in Paris last night playing in such a manner so hopefully that is the way we will continue.

In saying that, how Keane dropped deep for the ball to feet it was criminal how the two Diarra’s failed to close off this avenue at all for the whole game. France were incredibly poor and this whole national outrage imo has more to do with how we should have won by two clear goals in normal time rather than by Henry’s handball.

is that a knockout blow?

If people are so fucking outraged by the result why haven’t they burnt down an embassy or something. People need to get things in perspective. Sure it was a balls we missed out on qualifying , it was cruel, but that’s sport. You win some, you loose some.

There was 4 young girls killed in a car crash the other night. It’s stuck back in page 10 of the papers cause people are crying over a goal that shouldn’t have been allowed.

If the FAI are granted a replay will the Georgia and Montenegro games be replayed as well?

Against Georgia Ireland got a penalty for a handball when the ball struck the defenders chest.
And against Macedonia Paul McShane blocked a certain goal with his arm and no penalty was given.

It could be a busy month for Ireland.

Argument Delaney put to this was that we also should have had peno against Bulgaria and Montenegro so think case would be that over a league basis you will get some and not get other decisions. Cheating in a one off match is different.

Statement by Minister Martin Cullen TD
On the France v Republic of Ireland Game

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism Martin Cullen TD, has written to the President of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to ask him that in the interests of fair play, to support the position of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and to organise for last nights match in Paris to be replayed.

Below is the content of Minister Cullens letter to the FIFA President:

Dear Mr Blatter

I am writing to you as the Irish Minister for Sport following the outcome of last night’s World Cup play-off match between France and the Republic of Ireland in Paris. I am sure you are aware of the enormous public disquiet both here in Ireland and internationally at the unfair manner by which the French victory was achieved.

I urge FIFA, as the world governing body for football, to organise for this match to be replayed in the interests of fair play and the continued integrity of the sport.

I understand that the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have lodged a complaint with your organisation and have also requested a replay of the match and I fully support this course of action. I understand that there is precedence in place since 2005 for such a decision.

I appeal to FIFA’s sense of Fair Play as contained in your organisation’s Fair Play Code which advocates under its first golden rule of Play Fair that “Winning is without value if victory has been achieved unfairly or dishonestly.”

The sport of football and the actions of its players act as a significant role model for our children and young people. The positive actions of your organisation in developing the sport and the investment here in Ireland by the Irish Government in encouraging participation in the sport, means that it is vital that the integrity of the game is maintained. It is extremely damaging to the sport at all levels if the public perception is that games are not being played and administered fairly.

Yours sincerely

embarrassing
She was interviewed by Tony O Donoghue on RTE after the game. Said she was upset and angry.
I don’t think she speaks English though as she had to give her answers to Trap in Italian and then he answered Tony in English.

That’s class.

This has gone too far - there’s a bird talking about soccer on Prime Time now!!!

Eoin Hand is some clown. Think of the kids. They will see Henry as doing something wrong but getting away with it. They will think that they can take drugs and get away with it.

Another underage soccer coach lamenting how he has to take kids aside over the next few days and explain how Henry did wrong.

Everyone needs to cop to fuck on.

Well said, certainly puts things in perspective. And there was me feeling sorry for myself last week as I didn’t hit the target in Coppers.

Let’s all get behind England now for the World Cup.

Egypt have withdrawn their ambassador from Algeria apparently.

They were all rotten looking ergo no one cares. The Air France girls were rides. Conspiracy? Probably.

You fucking imbecile, that’s going too far, delete this shit before anyone else sees it,not one bit amusing and very disgusting.BTW don’t bother telling me to fuck myself because you know that’s a bad fucking thing to say man.

Ah Jesus Thrawneen, there’s a line.

You fucking prick

That is just fucking sick.

Fucking Scumbag

You must have higher standards than me,i thought they were good looking girls and i mean that, your in bother here now Thrawneen, its going to be hard for you to keep posting on here after that disgraceful comment.

Rest in peace to those poor girls,i was on that road just last Week whilst canvassing for the IFA elections, its a lethal 10 miles or so,the loss of these lives should be having a far bigger impact than losing a Soccer game to France, theres another thing, everyones conveniently forgetting that we may have lost the penelties in any case, would anyone here back us to win the penelties??,i wouldnt.

Don’t worry Thraw, there is no line. Say what you see, those are the rules of the game.
