Removal to the house. That’s the way it’s gone now. I’d say church removals are gone the way of the dodo. Slept in the room with the coffin to keep the poor divil company for the last night.

I’ve done that a few times now. A nice tradition. A few family members/friends, to stay with the body in the home, let the core family members sleep. A bottle or two will be pulled out, tell a few yarns, reminisce, and generally talk shite. A nice tradition.

I’m not sure, we had my Mother in our house for two night and there’s a bit to it. Very little sleep for one. Think we would do it differently if we were to do it again. We had pretty much an open house and it’s not a big house; big pressure on us all. Would drink less too.
