You come a level below that and most historical figures are contentious - and some section of society will find offense ā¦ instead of doing away with Leeās stautue, why not use the site / issue to draw awareness and open dialogue? - erect a statue near the site of a slave in bondageā¦ two contradictions side by side, because thatās what the civil war was in many ways for many that fought and thatās what life is in general.

Have any of ye been to that park in Budapest with all the old communist propaganda statues. Its well worth a visit. They could have destroyed them but I think itās well worth preserving them as a reminder of the past.
