€50 charge by the bank to just lodge a international cheque … WTF? Can one of you banking types break down what one is charged for here? — They’d make you sick these cretins who’d break the country in an instant and then have the cheek to charge you for just walking through their door.

I havent worked in a bank for many years so any practical info I have is out of date. But I would imagine the 50 charge is to put paid to people using cheques.
Edit. For some foreign cheques they literally need to post the cheque to the originating bank who will then convert that cheque to a bank draft and post it back. Can take some time.

Cheers mate … it was a minor fuck up on my part that led to cheque and not bank transfer.
Could be months before it clears as well depending on ccy etc.
We have months to wait, mate … we’ve waited 800 years, a couple of months is no problem.
