Whatā€™s the attraction of diving in quarries then?

2 of my family were club divers cork sub aqua club for years and quarries were a no no , roots entanglement, rubbish, wires etc too hairy, I wouldnā€™t swim in fresh water at all for the same reasons, used to obviously when younger, but each year similar tragedies happen, awfully sad for those brothers and family and friends

Theyā€™d be issues everywhere though why do you think Cork is so bad in particular now?

Yes honestly itā€™s gone ga ga altogether

Why? Evidence suggests that in the last few years druggies, beggars, heroin has taken over, lived and worked all over the world well travelled, so fairly open minded and aware of large urban problems, but itā€™s gone to fuck altogether lately, :racehorse: has bolted ref Heroin, homelessness is at an all-time high, city centre is not safe for older folk at evening/ night time, ex doorman well able to tangle still but Iā€™d be cautious myself

Correct ref hassle everywhere, but limerick seems contained for now, worried that Cork is heading where Limerick was

Thereā€™s simply no respect for anything at all among young people ā€¦ and thatā€™s not a grumpy old cunt speaking. I did all the stuff teenagers did but I respected my neighbours, was generally afraid of the law and my parents. Iā€™m not sure any of that is true now with young folk - in any area of a city. Thereā€™s an awful sense of entitlement with young kids now and it stems from their parentsā€¦ All their lives they were so precious and their parentā€™s giving it the ā€˜my Seanie wouldnt do this or do that - or my Aine is x, y and zā€™ ----- Ask any school teacher - parents are absolute cunts.
Iā€™m just about old enough that if a parent or teacher said I was misbehaving then I got a box around the head whether I was or not - the auld fella would be of the thinking that I probably deserved it for something else anyway ā€¦ youā€™d nearly need to speak to a legal team before approaching a parent now. Thereā€™s no culpability and no responsibility.

Now thatā€™s before we even get to influence of social media and how embolden it can be ā€¦ But in another way itā€™s awful for teens as well - the bit of drinking or the odd dust up is now all captured and shown to the world. We did it and no one was any wiser ā€¦

The rise in violence among young folk tho is very worrying - and itā€™s nation wide. Are they desensitized to it? Is it highlighting wider social problems in society- like a lot of single parents. Are our young men suffering a crisis - feeling detached from society and any meaningful future? ā€” You can just wave a brush and say - scum - if that makes it easier but I dont know if itā€™s a case of these instances being highlighted more due to social media or if thereā€™s a huge spike in violence among teens. - either way itā€™s worrying.

Why did our generation or the one just above us (ie parents now) turn into such useless cunts and do such a bad job though if we were all raised really well with clips round the ear etc?

Each generation gets a bit softer I think ---- Also time.

Weā€™re a 24/7 society now - people, and in most cases both parents, are working all over the shop.

Weā€™ve also never been so over loaded with information ā€“ Do this for your baby, feed them that, make sure they are achieving x by the age of three or they are doomed. Then you google something and it nearly always tells you your child is autistic or is going to dieā€¦ So I think parents now are a bit more wound up, a bit more precious and very short on time i many cases.

Iā€™m staying in a campsite at the moment and every evening a group of young teens (12-15) gather in and around the tennis court and look at their own phones for hours in a group of about 10, just barely acknowledging each other, when it gets dark and the lights from the screen illuminate their faces itā€™s like an art installation, girls and boys here, not even trying anything else, I donā€™t understand
