Further Things That Are Wrong (Part 2)

Provide your stats and sources and relevant information as to the bias of those sources, please.

Jesus.

Sorry to read that but it seems standard for a lot of wrongful diagnosis given on this over the last decade or so.
Thereā€™s tonnes of these people found on YouTube giving interviews and even evidence to committees on the issue and how they were pushed in the direction of gender reaffirming care. Nearly all on the spectrum.
People who suffer gender dysphoria typically begin to display it very young and itā€™s constantly there. It doesnā€™t just happen at 18.

Iā€™ve a sample case of one. Iā€™m absolutely open minded to be proved wrong on it though. And it wouldnā€™t bother me in the slightest if I was wrong. Seems to be common sense that this would happen though.

Are you okay, bro?

Anecdotes are not data.

Are you looking for a boyfriend?

No just in general

I do my own thing.

OK, I suppose an 18 year old is a very different kettle of fish, adult and all that,
My pals child is only 13 now but has been dressing as a girl for the past 18 months, heā€™s become very open minded about it, his ā€˜sonā€™ was always very feminine as a child, heā€™d obviously prefer if it wasnā€™t the case, I donā€™t think thereā€™s been any talk of permanent changes but I guess itā€™s a matter of time.
Itā€™s easy to talk shit on the internet about a lot of things that havenā€™t come to your door

Of course it happens.

What are the rates? A quick Google on this would suggest varying figures but all the ones I see are low, some under 1%.

Go through the spectrum of surgery offered across all different fields. Iā€™m currently in a predicament where I have been offered a surgery on my eye where the surgeon specifically stated the risk of a worse outcome than I currently have. That means there is potential regret if I decide to go ahead with the surgery. Should that surgery be therefore banned because it carries risk of regret?

Check out the stories of regret and suicides after laser eye surgery. This is now a very common procedure with real risk of regret.

Should all plastic surgery be banned? It seems to me that regret and mental illness are much bigger issues with regard to plastic surgery than with surgeries for trans people - of which there are numerous different types, many having nothing to do with genitalia.

My answer to the questjon ā€œshould all plastic surgery be banned?ā€ is a firm ā€œnoā€.

Itā€™s refreshing that most of us are having an adult conversation on it

Come on ffs

And lads here dump on Nuala and Breda and ā€œgossipy womenā€, oblivious.

Ok. Thanks again for your interaction.

Have you read this budā€¦ its not very scientific to refuse to publish results because the results go against your beliefs as this ā€œdoctorā€ is doing. Im sure you agreeā€¦ But here we are in the year of our lord 2024ā€¦

Itā€™s like the Tavistock centreā€¦ scores of doctors silenced when they tried to speak up against giving drugs and surgery in cases where they felt it wasnā€™t needed.
And after leaving their jobs they couldnā€™t speak out publicly for fear of the mob calling them anti transā€¦a pattern you even see on here if you donā€™t fall in with the group think.

Thatā€™s the truth.

Thatā€™s the essence of most discussion tho and especially on the internet ? As someone thatā€™s in education Iā€™m sure you promote objective debate rather than subjective.

Tracksuit is correct in that the subjective is far more painful and real but that doesnā€™t negate philosophical debate on issues eitherā€¦ society marches forward on objective research and debate rather than the individual experience. In fact, most of the time itā€™s at the expense of individual experience.
