GAA All Star awards - sponsored by Ferrero Rocher. The chocolate of champions

Tim O’Mahony was good this year until he was assaulted early on in the All Ireland final

Tipp got the closest to limerick this year. And they had a 10 point lead. There is no sympathy for anyone in this game

He was good against dublin for what it’s worth. Almost threw away the semi vs kk but bounced back in ET. But was he better than byrnes over the course of the championship? No way

Kelly listed at midfield so will battle with Barron to get one of the token awards at the expense of O’Donovan. Murphy will get goalkeeper. Pat Horgan full forward. Waterford will get one too so if Barron doesn’t get midfield it’ll be Prunty. Hego probably did enough in the final after an average year to edge out Gleeson.

Hoggy wasn’t even the best Cork forward all year. Did nothing against Limerick in Munster, missed a few frees, missed a penalty, was generally eaten alive in open play.

In the final he was subdued too, couple of points from play but generally a non entity.

Ah yeh but he’ll get one of the Joe Canning/Ryan Giggs lifetime achievement awards.

Horgan??

Better year than Casey? No
Better year than Flanagan? No

Better year than Gillane? Early doors yes but look at the year Gillane had since coming in HT v Tipp…turned that game himself. Was outstanding in his duel v Prunty and came out of it on top. Had an outstanding Final.

All other nominees irrelevant really

If Jamie Barron gets in ahead of WOD again, I will have no words.

Not a lot to disagree with here. Jack O’Connor will pick up the Cork forwards All-Star

I accidentally voted for Murphy ahead of Quaid. I think it’s unquestionable that Quaid should get it.

I’m going to give a stab at the football nominations:

Goalkeepers: Morgan (Tyrone) Hennelly (Mayo) Beggan (Monaghan)

Defenders: McKernan, McNamee, Hampsey, Harte, McGeary, Burns (Tyrone) O’Hora, Keegan, Durcan, Coen (all Mayo), White, O’Sullivan, Foley (Kerry) Fitzsimons, McCarthy (Dublin) McAnespie(Monaghan)

Midfield: Kilpatrick, Kennedy (Tyrone) Ruane (Mayo) Moran (Kerry) Fenton (Dublin) Lavelle (Monaghan)

Forwards: McCurry, Sludden, Meyler, McKenna (Tyrone) O’Donoghue, Conroy (Mayo) D Clifford, P Clifford, S O’Shea (Kerry) Tierney (Galway) Flynn (Kildare) O’Neill (Armagh) McManus (Monaghan) O’Donnell (Donegal)

The bolded players I think are definite:

So that’s

Morgan

Hampsey
Harte
Keegan
McGeary
2 of McNamee/O’Hora/Coen/O’Sullivan

Ruane
Kilpatrick is likely but they could try and horse someone else in midfield, Moran and Fenton are outsiders

Meyler
Sludden
McCurry
Clifford
1 of O’Donoghue/Conory
1 of P Clifford/O’Shea

Loving the Fianna fail type of ballot paper

@flattythehurdler’s votes for all stars team poll above :grinning:

Collins
Sean O’D Downey Coleman
O’Mahony Lyons Bennett
Kelly Purcell
Gleeson Bennett Sutclife
Dessie Horgan Jack O

YHOTY Aidan McCarthy

He seems to have forgotten to vote for any of the three limerick players who can win hurler of the year

Limerick hurling seems to have destroyed him mentally

@flattythehurdler knows a quality midfielder when he sees two of them.

You’ve ruined @Julio_Geordio’s mid morning nap.

The poor man is frantically printing out excel spreadsheets

Flatty’s tears are like morning coffee. No need to sleep
