Jesus, one of the worst days ever was v 14 man Tipp in Thurles 2016. A man advantage practically the whole game and still comfortably beaten. It would have been a 20 point defeat but for the red card.
Dan was full back and all at sea that day (like everyone around him). Being honest if someone had said that day he’d go on to become a mainstay of the greatest team ever known…
Tom came on late and scored a late consolation goal. I doubt anyone had him earmarked as a pivotal member of a three time AI winning behemoth either…
To be fair to Dan that day he was left very exposed
Didn’t expect you to take my head off with response above. Just my opinion on Coughlan. BTW I think English and O Neill are both outstanding prospects and I would be disappointed if both ain’t all star contenders in the next 3/4 years
@Fat_Pox , don’t get me wrong mate, I’m not out to take anyones head off.
I am just looking forward to seeing how those three young lads develop in the current Limerick setup.
I don’t think it’s athleticism that will cost Coughlan; he’s a lot quicker than you think.
It’s aggression that may let him down but he’s adding to his game all the time, benefiting from being inside. Made his Championship debut at 19, fair going in such a dominant side.
Slow strike would be my slight concern. He’s a superb athlete
He is a 10 year Limerick senior hurler.
I’ve no doubt about that.
Kiely doesn’t hand out jerseys for the sake of it so he’s in a good spot
Kiely certainly doesnt. He makes sure lads have earned their spot whether its in the 26, outside the 26 or the starting 15.
Credit him for that belief too and being able to see it through end to end. Thats what success is.
Hurler of the year is an interesting discussion. Sean Finn, Kyle Hayes and Cian Lynch.
Has to be Cian Lynch for me anyway. What a hurler. He is incredible.
Two HOTY puts him right up there as well presuming he gets the nod.
He’s a lock for it
Kyles goal in PUC in the Munster Final was a score for the ages. It was absolutely unreal.
It was absolutely perfect in its execution.
Still would say its Cian Lynch though HOTY. 100%.
Hayes would have been in pole position after Munster but Lynch’s Croke Park displays will seal it. Waterford’s “plus one” sweeper and Coleman didn’t curb his influence as much as a designated man marking specialist might have.
Sean finn would be hard done by in any other year. And he playing in the full back line with a wing back and a corner forward.
The best in the business
Shefflin out on his own on 3 HOTY’s.
Brian Corcoran, DJ Carey and Brian Whelehan all on two.
A second for Lynch puts him up there in the pantheon of the greats.
Corcoran has one as a back and one as a forward. Lynch would have one as a midfielder and one as a forward. Some going
It puts him right up there, mate.
He could go on and get another potentially too.
No pressure? No pressure in stepping into the greatest hurling side of all time?
By god.
