GAA All Star Wars

Cathal Barrett outperformed Noel Connors, Seamus Callanan outperformed Maurice Shanahan. Tadgh de Burca didn’t even play centre back ffs.

Barrett only played two games FFS, Callanan got an all star so what’s your point, De BĂșrca was excellent and deserves his all star.

Tadhg de Burca an All Star defender who never had to mark anyone.

I think Austin Gleeson has been the most glaring omission.

He’s a very good prospect and he’ll go on to do great things in the years to come please God. But still a bit raw and is he the closest marker ever? He’ll learn and will have plenty of All Stars in years to come but just not this year.

Will you go way out of it. The only thing glaring were the wides he hit all year. He’s a good player all the same.

Is there a minimum amount of games you must play to be eligible for an all-star?
Cathal Barrett performed better than Noel Connors this year imo.

Maybe Cathal will get the award he deserves next year, mullach. Please God.

You taking the piss there @Fagan_ODowd?

Oh dear God, no. Why would you say that.

Good one

I think Fagan was making a funny there Julio.

Quite inconsistent

Next year will be his year Fagan.
The irony of @glasagusban advising all and sundry that they are individual awards and Waterford getting 2 All Stars in the backs due to the collective defensive system of their team is not lost on me however.

I agree.

The full back line as a whole all did “ok”. However i remember tears where at least 5 lads had excellent years going for any of the lines. Sometimes them all.

Most underwhelming.

Its barely worth the usual discussions that take place around it.

I certainly wouldn’t award a player an all star for two games. And in any event:

One game against Waterford -did he even have a corner forward to mark in that one? And against Galway did he mark mannion (5 points) or Whelan (18 yr old, two points)?

Sure McCarthy got one based on 25 minutes a couple of years ago.

No, I knew you’d be way too sharp to miss that one alright b

I’m not particularly bothered by it, although the Tipperary defence yielded no goals from play in this years championship, yet none of the back 7 were deemed worthy of an All Star.

Wasn’t that the year you reckoned Shane O’Neill should get one and pointed out mistakes McCarthy made while he off the field as a blood sub?
