yeah it is. Apologies for the confusion. He had a decent, above average year. A lot of his hype for footballer of the year in 2017 though I think is due to his previous years as being a leader for Mayo. Iâm not sure if he was the best footballer in the country this year. Although I am also not sure of any real stand out candidate either.
For me Moran has been the outstanding player in Ireland this year and shouldnât get the award for any other reason than that.
James McCarthy was in pole position for the award last year, but got injured, wasnât as good when he returned from injury, and that ruled him out of it. I think perhaps thatâs what people have in mind when tipping him for the award this year. I do think heâs been Dublinâs best player this year but Moran is ahead of him for me.
Pat McDonagh needs to be criticised more widely for the issues his brand has caused in Irish society. The amount of supermacs wrappers littered around the countryside is deplorable.
