Yeah, our posts crossed there. The long range frees were very impressive and made up for his freetaking first half melt down against Tipperary. But youâd expect a half forward to be under puck outs in a match and other aspects of it, as I said, would be deemed twee and patronising if praised in a camogie match.
Heâs absolutely seething at Galway sweeping up all available trophies this year, including his beloved Leinster Championship. If Canning wins HOTY it could be too much for the poor chap.
This was wexfords greatest year in decades, yet we took home all the cups
Joe will be bringing the title to Limerick this year.
To go with the other three that day.
Thatâs what Gary Kirbyâs fingers said.
Galway shattered this little boyâs dreams for 2017
Waterford thought they only had to turn up that day. Typical townie arrogance.
His dreams are our reality
Limerick were waiting in the long grass.
Some Galway posters are hopping off the search function and sitting down with notepads to list out inconsequential things Joe Canning did. Iâm sorry but I donât think any of you, even with your limited understanding, genuinely believe Canning was Galwayâs best player this season, guys. I believe astute hurling observers wouldnât include him in Galwayâs top five. I think @backinatracksuit would describe your collective carry on here in prolonging the wind up as a bit of a yawnfest.
It seems Iâve touched a nerve again, my reference to a yawnfest has much more to it than Joe, it strikes me that youâve lost interest in proper forum INTERNETTING and have become a giant wum with a few catchphrases,
Only a gobshite would truly claim that JoeCanning was incidental to Galways fantastic year.
I await the âI know you are but what am
Iâ type response.
Oh great. Youâre back analysing my psyche, misinterpreting my posts in your responses and pre-empting what I might say next. I knew the relative peace couldnât last forever.
Put simply there was a couple of Galway backs, at least one midfielder and a couple of forwards better than Canning this season.
Did he win it or did he help win it?
Why the fuck is this included?
Of your big list there basically all he did was hit over frees and set up a point. Easiest likes youâll ever get
The post was in response to the clueless Wexican claiming Canning did not touch the ball in the last 20 minutes. Can you not grasp the simple concept of the point being made?
Iâm doing nothing of the sort, what an odd post.
My only issue is with your repeated attempts to piss on the players character and your assertion that he did nothing but put a few dead balls between the posts.
This award has been awarded to far less deserving players but he wouldnât be my choice in s fair fight.
Donât be such a pussy.
Did he say that Canning didnât touch the ball in the last twenty minutes?
Name them
Thatâs certainly a valid argument, Galway had many heroes this year on their way to winning all available trophies, and I would be happy with any of them winning HOTY, a somewhat meaningless prize compared to an AI medal.
However, some criteria has to be used to select the HOTY from a crowded field, and generally the player who makes the most significant contribution to their team in the business end of the championship gets the award (Callanan not getting it last year, given his performance in the AI final, was a complete joke). Without Canning, Galway would certainly not have been in the AI final, and likely would not have won the final. Great players find a way to win, Jamie Barron was sitting on the sideline and Kevin Moran hitting stupid wides while Joe was going about his business winning an AI.
For what itâs worth, I think Gearoid McInerney should also have been nominated for his outstanding displays in the SF and final.
