He had to be nominated so as to keep the real All Star goalkeeper âunder wrapsâ until the night. Theyâve actually come out and said that, which in itself gives away the All Star keeper
It really is a golden season for goalkeepers. Two nominees for Footballer of the Year. Quite a turnaround in the space of 12 months. Last year they ended up giving the goalkeeper All Star to a lad who was dropped for the All Ireland Final.
Christ
It will be a complete farce if Joe Canning and Conor Whelan donât win.
Surely itâs Cluxton to win FOTY and Clarke to get the All-Star.
The Irish way.
Itâs a bigger outrage than Brian Whelehan in 94 that McInerney is not nominated. An absolute farce. In fact it makes the Whelehan thing seem trivial as David Clarke had a fine year. Mcinerney was head and shoulders the best hurler in the country this year and Galway wouldn have won league and all Ireland without finding him to fill the most pivotal spot on any hurling team.
Iâm not sure he was really as good as youâre saying, use of the ball let him down a lot. Phenomenal defensive Lynch pin though.
Canning is being judged by different standards to others and has always had a few naysayers on here. He is deservedly and undoubtedly HOTY. I still prefer him playing full forward.
Did Tipp win the league that year? There was always a token one for the league champs
Yes, Tipperary won the league in 1994. Leahy in fairness gave as fine an exhibition as you could ever see in the league final and got his All Star solely on that basis.
Quiz question - A hurling All Star who never played in Croke Park in his career.
Loughnane?
The old Railway cup makes it more difficult. Mossie Walsh or John Galvin?
Seamus Durack
Think Loughnane and Durack may have played Railway cup in Croke Park but not for their county
Mick Moroney.
Better known as Mick âMickâ Moroney.
He set up at least one of Joeâs fabled scores against chip so I donât buy the use of ball argument. Without him joes effort wouldnât have mattered as they would have been beaten.
He is without question the hurler of the year.
You think!
Seamus Durack it is.
An All Star Hurler who never won a Championship senior hurling match in his entire inter-county playing career. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one.
No he isnât. No other player would get nominated for HOTY playing the way Canning has this year and I rate him very highly
Btw you may prefer him at full forward but he was moved out of there because he wasnât able for a lot of full backs. Joey Holden got the better of him a few times ffs
Now you are making a complete tit of yourself.
