I found myself nodding along in agreement while reading that
I think any right thinking person would do likewise.
Thatās a smashing avatar.
Had to check who Colin Sheridan was. Apparently he scribbles for the Mayo News.
Imagine my surprise.
Thereāll be fellas looking at their history books in 100 years time wondering why Cillian OāConnor wasnāt regarded all that fondly in his playing days.
His Championship Scoring Record will never, ever be beaten Iād imagine.
The Dean Rock coaching seminars will be churning out multiple footballers who can tap over frees and accumulate volume stats.
Dean Rock will actually be doing well to get to second before he finishes up.
Personally I think he gets a lot of empty calorie scores. Never seen any player get so many palmed goals where he is the last fella on the end of a move and palms the ball into the net from two feet out. He might have a dozen of those during his Mayo career. So I guess he benefited from the power running game of that Mayo side further out the field. Now I guess somebody has to be on the end of those so why not him I guess? No doubt others will point to all the scores on the board but not all scores were created equal.
Interestingly his average scoring return is much better against non Connacht sides than against Connacht teams. So he seems to do his best work outside Connacht.
Did you ever watch the Kerry and dubs games from the 70s ?nearly every second goal was palmed in
No way? The daft cunt is a Mayo man too I suppose?
40 years ago the game was different?
A lot of great players scored palmed goals ā¦Spillane ,Egan, hanahoeā¦
The gameās gone lads
The palmed goal is the holy grail. Jason Sherlock sweared by it.
Corofin do too.
