GAA Betting 2013

I couldn’t be arsed trying to decipher through the Average Punters Thread so this can do for this season.

As much as I hate to say it, Louth are banker material against us and the 4/6 that Powers have priced them up at is value. They should be around 1/2. We slowly got worse as the league went on and I don’t have much confidence in our ability to turn things around. We beat them in the league but I’m not putting any faith in that result given that Laois beat us and Louth trounced Laois yesterday. Reports have them as one of the best organised panels in the country at the moment.

2 points win Louth (vs Wexford) 4/6 - Paddy Power

Also, my apologies to farmerinthecity who got quite upset with me in 2011 when I recommended backing against my own county again when Limerick knocked us out in the hurling qualifiers. He seemed to think that backing against your own county is some kind of barbaric act.

Farmer is stupid if that’s the case. Betting against your own county is one of the few occasions in life when one can legally profit from insider information.

Waterford 13-8 PP to beat Clare. Can see no reason why Clare might be 4-7 in this. This is at the very least an evens game. Waterford won the last championship match up and went to Ennis in March and beat Clare in the League. Waterford are flying in training and waiting in the long grass. Thurles is like a second home to them.

1 point Waterford to beat Clare 13-8.

It is.

Tend to agree with Fagan ODowd here. While Clare have been very impressive under Fitz, they struggle to get goals and for this reason i think their price is wrong.

I think the 10/1 price on a Draw here is the way to go.

Is the lad who had Waterford bateing tyres in training last year still in charge?

Yep.

you do you fancy to win football all ireland buddy?..

I don’t know mate. Gave Tyrone good outside chance until they shat themselves yesterday. Hard to look beyond the normal 5 of Cork, Kerry, Dublin, Mayo & Donegal it seems. Kildare will have a few eye catching performances and get well written up before collapsing.

Its Dublin or Donegal for me provided they avoid each other. Both 3/1 currently with PP.

Clare are def under priced, but backing Waterford to win at 13/8 isn’t good value. The Clare team they will face on Sunday will have 6 different players to the one the played in the league. Last years Waterford side with molumphy, Kelly and mullane would be worth a bet but I cannot see these Waterford forwards posting anything near a winning score. And Clare won’t gift the 2 silly goals that were the difference in last years meeting. No value in betting

Haven’t Clare given away more goals than any side in the league?

Sshh. Don’t be asking him tricky questions. Fwiw I think Wd are a better team without Mullane.

don’t dis my cousin. Scully is an alright sort.

Waterford are 20/1 or so to win Munster which is very long. Two 50/50 matches vs Clare and Cork before the final. Obviously they’ll get thumped there by limerick but you should be able to lay it off at a decent profit at that point. Might be worth a tenner

Here, Fagan ODowd who is taking the frees for Waterford?
Is it Pauric Mahony or Maurice Shanahan?

Shanahan has an odd free taking technique and is very inconsistent, probably because of that.

Are you saying that if it’s a Dublin v Donegal final then you don’t expect either of them to win?

Jake Dillon and Maurice took them against Galway. Mahony is not a certain starter.
